How would you rank the results of this multi-era tournament--

    Anyone go 6-0?

I think Monzon would have the best chance of going 5-0, while Hopkins would have the best chance of going 0-5.

The only way Hopkins go 0-5 is if the judges keep on robbing him

    Intresting thread pal.

First off, I'll be honest; I only have a basic knowlege of Greb. I understand ALOT of people rate him high on their all time P4P lists but there's little or no footage of him fighting; so what the hell they think their doing I don't know. I'll leave Greb out of my ideas and you can find your own place for him.

I think the weak link is Roy Jones here. (Never thought I'd say that!) If we take the 160lbs RJJ, he has all the athletic talent in the world, but the fact is that he's still a relatively green fighter at this weight. Would potential and physical ability be enough to beat the others? All of whom are intelligent and should be considered masters of the ring. I see Jones finishing last. That said, I see him as a live underdog against anyone. How can you just count out the most physically gifted of the lot? I actually think that of everyone mentioned above, 160lbs Roy has his best chance with SRR. (Yes, shock horror; someone on ESB has Robinson not winning a fight by a first round KO) Ray is easily the smallest guy here, and Jones is athletically superior too. If Roy fights the perfect fight then it's conceivable that he wins.

Sugar Ray Robinson is the GOAT for most people (Not for me) and I have no argument with that. Alot of his aura comes from his time at Welterweight where he was phenomanal (Apparently. Again there is little or no footage). As a big Welterweight nobody could really match him given his superb skill set, and top quality mental attributes. He DID look more vulnerable at Middleweight. He struggles in this tournament for me and has an awful time with Carlos Monzon. From what I've heard, I'd have him beating Greb by decision, and see his fights with Hopkins and Hagler as 50/50. (Both are much bigger, Hopkins especially) The Bernard fight would be certain to go 12 or 15 rounds, and the Hagler one is a fight that Ray would need to win by decision. If he can catch Jones with that left hook, he can stop him. I realise I'm going against concensus here, but 1. I don't care, and 2. People mistake the GOAT WW Robinson, with the ATG MW Robinson, and the fact is that he is one of five MW ATG's in this tournament, the other being Roy who had the potential if not the weight limitation to be one himself.

Hopkins is an intresting one. He was a huge Middleweight and probably the smartest guy in this tournament too. I'd wager that a peak Hopkins was the one we saw with Tito. Unbreakable will, a defensive master with an iron chin, nobody in this tournament is walking through him. A prime Hopkins would neautralise a green Roy Jones and either knock him out late, or win an 8-4 type decision IMO. Ray Robinson is a 50/50 fight when you consider Nard's physical advantages and the fact that he's just as smart or smarter. The point is that Hopkins blunts his opponents offense and then gets to work with his own; methodically breaking opponents down. Hagler vs Hopkins is my dream fight. It'd be an ugly fight between two tough men who'd probably actually like each other. In a war of attrition I'd favour Hagler on points, just. Monzon beats Hopkins by decision and probably puts more hurt on him than we've seen happen. Monzon really was a killer (No pun intended) and is top of my own MW H2H list. Hopkins is vying with Hagler for second in my book, and it's a neck and neck race.

Hagler was a dangerous man. I'm talking about seek and destroy Hagler, not the watered down version that people now remember against SRL. Hagler stops a green Roy Jones IMO. He goes after him and stalks relentlessly. Jones isn't seriously hurting him and eventually gets caught one too many times, that simple. (A 168lbs Roy beats Hagler by a lopsided UD for me) He gives Monzon the fight of his life and may even eek it out on the scorecards now I think of it. That said, as Hagler comes forward he'll give the Argentine ample chances to land his punches, and although Hagler was as close to a man of steel that we've seen, it doesn't save him on the score cards. The Hopkins fight is mentioned above in that mans paragraph.

Monzon. Wow. H2H he's the greatest MW of all time, I see no argument. I have him just below Hagler on the MW ATG list. He really hit his stride and despite several no contests just totally dominated the 160lbs division. 14 Lineal defences most of which are by KO. Monzon was cold and calculating, a real assasin. He decisions RJJ for me, I can see Jones' cautious style keeping him off the mat, but out of the score cards. Hagler wars with Monzon and makes it to the end, maybe even winning. Imovable object vs unstoppable force. This is the biggest threat to Monzon going unbeaten in the tournament IMO. Hopkins would **** Monzon off. Expect a filthy foul filled fight which Hopkins loves. Monzon does just enough to creak a razor thin decision. He never hurts Hopkins, who fights in close and ugly for the entire fight. The press confrences would be worth PPV alone.

    1. Monzon
    2. Hagler
    2a. Hopkins
    4. SRR
    5. RJJ

Again, I'm not educated on Greb.

No-one goes undefeated. Monzon is a very tough stylistic match-up for any Middleweight and Greb's record proves he's a nightmare for any fighter near 160 lbs.

It's a measure of how tough the field is when I feel confident that Hopkins would come out with the worst record. He gives everyone a good fight but I honestly don't know who I'd pick him to beat.

I think SRR-Hagler would be the most fun to watch.

Jones beats everyone in the tourney. One of the best H2H fighters in the history of the sport.
