Never heard of this Marciano guy before, but it does not sound like he was very good...Robinson KO 2

I know he did. But Olson was serious and that would have been a more ridiculous fight than Robinson vs Marciano.

I'm not sure how Robinson could have no business at light heavyweight when he was miles ahead on points against Maxim, the light heavyweight champion of the world, after 13 rounds and was overcome by the heat and not anything that Maxim did.

Thinking about that, it really makes Sam Langford's achievements even more crazy

I'd give Maxim a bit more credit, but I agree with your overall point.

If Robinson beat Maxim, it may have been considered. And maybe Rocky would have encouraged it.

Marciano beat Archie Moore but Archie was really 72 and Louis was 105, Walcott was really 91 and LaStarza was a lightweight, Kocell was a drugged up featherweight & Layne took a dive, his teeth he spit out were fake wooden teeth. He had to hit Harry Mathews 2 X with the left hook to knck him out instead of once. I really think Marciano would lose to Ruben Olivares in his prime, Oliveres was so quick

Good assessment, I pretty much agree with this.

If the rumors of his 15 mile runs were true, I'd honestly pick Rocky.
But since we now know that he only ran 5, I'm truly not sure...

Yes Rocky would be well ****ed after running 15 miles,he would be a sitting duck for Ray.Plus Rocky had a streak of dog in him when things got tough.

Maxim only won three of the thirteen rounds and one of the first ten.

This was either because he was trying his best and Robinson was far too good or he was holding back, allowing Robinson to build an unassailable lead, in the hope Robinson would be overcome by exhaustion in which case he was extremely lucky.

Robinson definitely showed that he could compete at light heavyweight.
