Some boxers back then charity work and were generous as well. Look at Joe Louis's generosity to the U.S. Military, and people in general. He was too generous with his money for his own good.

Marciano had a rep of being very friendly with the fans too.

Robinson isn't a "gentleman" just because he wasn't as much of an ******* in public as Mayweather often is. He still could be a dick in public. Carmen Basilio couldn't stand Robinson because of how he brushed him off in public.

Robinson's last fight was against Archer in the mid 60s, when Ray was 43 or 44.

when they talk about floyds great defence being better than robinson's well i'm sure sugar ray with his talent could have been the best defensive fighter ever if he chose so.however he was at heart a fighter,he could go head to head with the brawlers, and pretty much chose to.his chin was actually rock solid.i love floyd but i'd have to go with sugar ray on any head to head,i think even besides all his skills he would simply be too tough for mayweather.

Ha ha...my goal was to create the longest thread in ESB history, have I done it? I haven't been on this board long enough to know, so the veterans would need to fill me in on the record. Do you really think that I feel that Mayweather should be considered as great or greater than Robinson? That he would beat Hagler? Go back and read some of my posts in other threads. I'm a comedian. I should be an actor too because I have managed to convince all you guys (and a lot of you guys seem pretty bright from the way you write) that I have this opinion.

All joking aside, I do think that Mayweather is an amazing fighter but Robinson and Hagler were too big for him, and Hearns was as well. I also believe that people have a tendency to overrate older fighters and underrate modern fighters and that boxing is the only sport that people do this with ---that I wasn't joking about. I knew that I could draw people to the thread by bringing up the knockdowns, and of course all Robinson and Tyson threads get lots of traffic.

Anyways, it's been fun going up and back with you guys on this. I'm just surprised nobody else called me on this joke. It's like a great crank call to a radio station that everyone falls for. :rofl

Before the board crashed, there was an incredibly long "No doubt Lewis would have stopped Vitali in round 7" thread.

I don't remember how many pages, but it was ridiculously long.

Nice cop out. When everyone on the entire forum owns you and you are made to look like a total dunce -despite repeatedly coming up with coherent(albeit ridiculous) arguments to do with both medicine, diet, and technical skills- just pretend it was all a big joke. Makes sense.

Good job though, you've fooled a couple of people so far with this transparent and fake confession.

Robinson fought and beat Jake Lamotta, Artie Levine, Steve Belloise,
Rocky Graziano, Gene Fullmer and many others!!!!

Artie Levine, Rocky Graziano and Steve Belloise were AWESOME
punchers!!! They could stop anybody if they connected.

Sugar Ray Robinson was the best!!!
