Robinson Was Dropped 10 Times In His Career!!

This is a statement not backed by any logic or facts. As a man with an education in science I have to say that "using you eyes" is not a valid method to measure something like that - at best it can make you have an opinion.

I already mentioned that I think Marciano would be starched handily by quite a few modern or recent fighters I mentioned.

 

Sweet Pea, there is no reason for language like "moron" etc. just because people don´t share your opinions.

Normally Ali is considered the greatest, but not everyone agrees on it.

There is no way the talent pool was deeper in the fourties although it may have seemed to be. There are simply more people on the planet now and more money in professional sports too, hence more full time professional athletes, deeper pools of talent etc. Boxing has gone backwards proportionately to other sports, that is true, but that´s a different thing.

I´m not saying the top boxers of today are greater or even better than the legends of that time, but the lower to mid to contender level boxers are surely a deeper pool of talent. Back in that day, if you really made it you could rise head and shoulders above the vast majority of the competition, because there was great money only for the absolutely best. Now even fringe contenders can make good money and therefore get the proper full time training needed. You don´t see world champions of today fighting part-time boxers a lot today do you?

I don´t want to call Robinson anything other than the legend he was. His accomplishments were surely outstanding. He did also indeed beat many good and some great fighters. But if he was fighting today, he could in no way have had the 173 fights he had in his own era. Look at his record and you´ll see a lot of boxers with records like 18-8-1 or even 0-1-0 in there.

Having said this, I still respect the hell out of the toughness of the old fighters, fighting so many times and most of the times for less money than the modern ones. Nowadays so much of boxing is about making money instead of wanting to prove you´re the best.
