Yeah, that would have been a very interesting fight. Robinson would of course be the favourite, but I can see Cerdan giving him some sweaty moments for sure.
Completely agree. One thing I might add alos is Robinson's experience in deterring an opponent from getting inside. Watch how he will lean forward while maintaining the ability to move backward or even forward, when he leans forward he is moving his body away from body punches, and an oncoming opponent will rush face first into the top of his head. That would be a deterent. Also he appeared very proficient in what Benny Leonard was famous for, the ability to nudge an opponent off balance, or push them back. The man knew how to fight...A rough fighter when the situation called for it.
I always felt he was a good in fighter and was very good at controlling the distance what I felt he lacked there was physical strength but then very few can match LaMotta, Fullmer or Basilio for strength. He throws very good combinations on the inside and has a great body attack especially against LaMotta.
Robinson wasn't exactly at home on the inside and has showed in some fights he could be vulnerable there, particularly after he came out of retirement. However, he showed in some fights (ie: the Basilio rematch) that he could step it up at times and match a good infighter on the inside, with his sheer speed and combos.
