i know most people recognise him as the GOAT but their are people out there who talk about his 19 defeats and compare his record unfavourably to some o the modern fighters.

before the defeat to turpin which he avenged by beating him in the rematch, robinson had a record of 132 fights 1 defeat and 2 draws, the defeat to lemotta he avenged 4 times. he sometimes fought 18 times a year with many fights going the full 15 rounds. in his peak he was an unstoppable force. he fought from light weight up to light heavy weight(in todays weight category's).

if anyone even trys to compare, roy jones, mayweather, hopkins, or even hearns, hagler and leonard, your crazy/deluded!!!. im certain sugar ray robinson in his prime would of beaten all of these fighters.

all his defeats bar 1 came into his 30s when he was probably completely shot in comparison to his early years because of the unrelenting punishment.

does anyone disagree that robinson is p4p the greatest fighter that ever lived?

    Nobody disagrees.

He's all time #1 with nobody coming too close. His accomplishments were so legendary, equaled only by his actual performances themselves.

He certainly has the best record, but head to head nobody will ever for sure know how he compares to some of the other all time greats. Just something to think about man. Record alone doesn't mean he would beat all the other people who had inferior records. When two men are in the ring, records don't mean ****. Styles make fights and Robinson was not unbeatable (nobody is).

This is coming from the guy with the SRR avatar.

Havent seen much of him so i cant say anything. I dont believe that there is any fighter that cant be beaten.
P4P Floyd could beat him. So could many other guys. Then again Robinson may beat them all nine out of ten times.

Pacquiao is coming close. In my opinion if Pacquiao beat Mayweather and Bradley he would be #1.

And his resume would show it. It wouldn't be a matter of just him looking good fighting bums, but Pacquiao would have cleaned out virtually all the divisions below him.

SRR was like a man from another planet, truly a golden an asset to boxing

But there are MANY fans out there that would put Greb/Langford as number one over SRR, im not particularly arguing with that, but my number 1 is SRR

Ya'll musta forgot, Robinson beat LaMotta in their first match, and LaMotta won the rematch. Then Robinson won the rest (4) of their fights.

Meh. I don't debate Robinsons place in history but people get too hung up on the stats. We have fighters today who only fight once or twice a year who manage to win 40 fights before losing.

Yori Boy Campas had almost 60 wins before he ever lost, hes no all time great.

Not every name on Robinsons record was a hall of famer.

Check out the weights... SRR was a 144lb welter against the 160lb middleweight LaMotta.
