Recent trend with Alvarez has been a tough fight followed by a softer touch before another tough fight. When he beats Cotto he's allow a voluntary defense of the title. The two biggest money fight's GGG could take are Ward and Canelo. There is no reason GGG couldn't of fought Ward then Alvarez next year.

Personally I'm not mad at either matchup both beat GGG imo, its better to lose for the most money than just good money. GGG is a good fighter but not what hyped to be.

Look man, they're not fighting Ward before they fought Cotto/Canelo, in fact with Ward moving up it's better to forget that fight altogether.

But until he gets Cotto/Canelo be that after Lemieux or the fight after that it's not happening. They're looking to get that payday first.

So if you guys want to see that fight, you better hope that Canelo gets in the ring with him after Cotto or we'll not see it for longer as GGG will probably fight Lee in that case, then Canelo and only after that will he move up to fight Ward (if at all).

Who is Ward even fighting anyway? November is close and there's no opponent. Can they even get anyone decent at this point? It's probably going to be Sukhotsky or something like that.

There is absolutely no problem with that, just don't act like this super feared fighter who'll fight anybody when its simply not true.

Honestly I have no problem with GGG attempting to unify, Lemieux isn't a top teir fighter but a win means one less subpar Champ. Its when they make GGG out to be something hes not that I gotta call bs on it.

These dudes out here lying to fans and get a pass because he "exciting", that's why I like guys like Kovalev Canelo actual bad ass fighters who will go out of there way to prove greatness. Yet the two most talked about guys in boxing are Khan and GGG who are all talk and have shown an unwillingness when confronted with action.

I mean jeez these dude turned down Lara talking about him not being a draw yet fought Monroe? That should tell you all you need to know
    Didn't Alvarez-Lara do 300k+ on PPV.

This is an angle nobody mentions but is worth pointing out. Landing a Golovkin fight not only would've increased Andre's profile, but protected Cotto, the money man in their stable.

How would Cotto be protected if win or lose GGG would still be WBC Mandatory for the MW Title?

GGG has been a feared fighter in the MW division, nobody claimed the entirety of boxing fears him..

If you look at the situations with Sturm, Quillin, Martinez, Geale, Cotto and Murray and how they avoided Golovkin you'll come to the same conclusion.

Cotto could drop the belt without any room for people to call it a duck because GGG will have beaten the #1 guy at 168. All the people complaining that GGG is picking on a smaller fighter would point to that to justify why it's OK and Cotto doesn't need to defend against him.

Even if GGG were to lose, the time taken for a Ward fight to develop and happen allows Cotto another defense in the meantime.

Basically, Ward-GGG would've eliminated the 800 pound gorilla in the room that's stopping people from taking Cotto's reign at Middleweight seriously regardless of if Golovkin won or lost the fight.

Watch Canelo whoop Cotto, then go back down to 154, throwing egg in Golovkin's face lol.

People are amazingly ret.arded on this board. Why the hell would GGG commit to fight Ward for 50-50 at 168lbs when he is headlining his first PPV and his next fight could be against Cotto or Canelo, two huge cash cows ? Doesn't even make sense, and absolutly no one in their right mind should be okay with what Wards team is saying.

Cotto & Martinez aren't really duck's, Strum was old and shot and the rest have resumes as unproven as GGG.

The fact is until 12/3" GGG was an unknown with no title and no relevant wins. That is basically like saying every no name boxers who calls out a top fighter and doesn't get the fight is a duck.
