Are reporters for The Ring and Boxing Monthly important?

Why is this guy pretending Main Events is any more competent? The first fight bombed too despite all of their experience.

At Roc Nation shows all that's possible, at least until they're out of business in 6 months.

given the way the business is being run, and the people involved, it would not surprise me if its just a money laundering system for tax purposes.

papered houses happen all the time. Ward is no stranger to that.

I think he's just trying to point out how poorly the whole thing was put together, and how unprofessional they were. I Don't see how that's getting twisted.

You're right people who cover the sport are not important for the sport, makes you wonder how the ring has managed to stay in business for so long.

I think Roc Nation sucks too but it's not because they've somehow failed to accommodate boxing "journalists" more. And the fact that he was citing the first fight, a massive failure by all accounts, to somehow extol Main Events' competence just seems disingenuous.

I don't know. The LA Times or Washington Post has to have a hundred times the circulation of either of those magazines. I've been all over the west coast and the first time I ever saw a hard copy of Ring in a supermarket was when Ali died and never since. It's not hard core fans who buy pay per views. It's casuals and Mexicans. A boxing reporter needs to be there or they don't have a paper/magazine, so let them buy a ticket. Why should they get special treatment? Why should any of the press?
