Large Dan said that a deal should be done by the end of the week for Roc Nation to buy Gary Shaw Production and take over promotional agreements of his fighters. Gary Shaw would then go to work for Roc Nation. A few fighters with GSP are Bryant Jennings, Thomas Dulorme, and Jose Pedraza.
Wow, yet another blockbuster move. (RNS previously courted Andre Ward and slaughtered both TR and GBP in a purse bid for Quillin vs. Korobov, bidding $2 million!)
I hope Roc Nation does some good, but right now I just don't like it for some reason. I feel like they're just trying to get their hands in a bunch of different cookie jars.
Best of luck to them but just throwing money at something wont make it work. Remember Bradley-Alexander? :yep
Smart move. Roc Nation is aiming to be a network-neutral promoter, and as such, had difficulty establishing a stable. They've got both money and an experienced management team; I predict they'll have success, despite the occasional hurdles.
They just signed a 3 show deal with FS1, the first show is on Jan 9. Its only 3 shows and its being done on a time buy but its a start and I hope they end up doing well.
Man.....Jay Z doin it right...we might see Roc making some waves in the next calendar year. It took Golden Boy a while to establish it's brand so Roc has some time to out in before they are real players but you can't be made at this move. It's a great look and I think it's going to put NY back on the map for big fights....MSG and Barclays will be seeing more boxing that's for sure!
True but they are retaining Shaw....he has the knowledge and relationships in the boxing world he just didn't have the clout, capital or financial backing he now has with Roc Nation. It's a power move!
Proving once again that no matter what the arena (successfully ascending the drug slinging ranks without getting shot up - shot at, sure, but the aim is to hit and not get hit :deal - or locked up; rapping; building a label & stable; promoting boxing...) Hov >>>>>>>>>>> Fitty. :deal
