This thread became even worse, going from nostalgia laden nonsense to the very modern alpha/beta script being talked and played about with.

Every day something like this on the internet managed to kill me just a little bit, on the inside.

Well, I was always a big person, I was a good competive long distance runner so I was obsessed about it. Unlike some people think if your running hard For over 10 kilometres often 7 days a week 165 is a big frame. My normal walk around weight was over 200 pounds if I added in weights I got as high as 240.

As for your question I was strong at 165. But of courses when I lifted more weights I got stronger. It’s pretty simple if you train for endurance you get lighter. If you are just recreational it won’t be drastic but if your running low 30 min 10 iks your going to be trained way down.

I said they would do alright. 50-50.

You were ringside for Bruno’s fights. What makes you think Whyte and Breazeale were any better than the guys Bruno fought? Larry Frazier. Rodolfo Martin...

If all that happened was 12 round championship bouts switched to 15 one of two things would happen. Either the pace would slow to accommodate the extra rounds and the guys would stay just as big or they would drop some weight and experiment with keeping 12 round pace going for longer.

However, I believe If it switched to 15 and the gloves went down to 6oz again I believe all the 240lb guys go on a crash diet and completely change overnight. we would see most heavyweights of all heights drop 20lb.

If both things happened yes. The golden times would return.

The longer distance and smaller gloves would Force an increased focus on technique and workrate.

Were you ringside for a Breazeale fight though?

I think Larry Frazier that fought Bruno was the same level as Breazeale.

Weaver was nobody who had lost 3 of his last 6 fights when Frazier beat him.
Molina,Mansour,Ugonoh are all better than that version of Weaver!

    Are you drunk?

Every week we get a thread where marciano fans insist his x factors (willpower, stamina, grit, workrate, awkward stance) would give him an advantage and make things challenging or even 50/50 with guys half a foot taller and 40-60 lbs heavier.

Yet these same people fantasize and speculate marciano could "easily" bulk up and be just as effective over 200 lbs (even though there is absolutely no evidence for this and rocky was fat and pudgy over 200). Almost like theyre trying to compensate or make concessions and bend things around to level the playing field for rocky against more modern sized fighters. The irony is these same people insist size and weight is overrated, many big heavies are slow, clumsy, lack technique, never fought anyone good, no stamina, plodders, etc.

    Which is it?

-Either you think rocky, AS WE SAW HIM ON FILM, would be effective and competitive with modern fighters.

    OR

-You think hed be inneffective and would need to bulk up and add weight to compete with big, athletic men.

Im not saying whose right, but its pretty dishonest to entertain both ideas. In fact, its contradictory and impossible for both opinions to be valid. Its a clear example of goal post shifting.

This is like saying jessie owens wouldnt need modern nutrition or training equipment to compete with modern runners, then insisting hed be so much faster and awesome with those things in the same breath.
