GBP Facebook He tried for that world championship title run one last time, had he won he would have been Jhonny Gonzalez's mandatory, unfortunately he fell short. But at least he's going to go out on his own terms with good money, all of his faculties intact. What an exciting fighter he was. He lost his legs, he was knocked down 4 times last night but never quit. He looked like he was DONE in the corner after the 8th round, but never gave in and continued to go.
No fortunately he fell short, because if the Rocky that showed up last night against Castellanos showed up against Jhonny, he'd be stretchered out of the ring, not to take anything away from Castellanos impressive performance.
Sad that in his prime his division was hot he had to go threw Barrera and Marquez to get that title I believe those are atg right there.
Can't help but be disappointed he never won a title. Remember back in the day watching him and juan diaz coming up on nbc. They got me interested in the sport and I'm still a fan to this day (blocked out cintron from that childhood memory)
Humberto Soto MAB JMM Chris John Fought Soto close. Rocky beat MAB clear imo and got robbed the first fight. That fight was initiallly declared a draw, but one of MAB's connections made sure to overturn the decision. About an hour later the commision spoke up and said that the scorecards had been miscalculated. atsch:-( Rocky Juarez should have been World Champion that night! Marquez was to much class for Rocky The first John fight was razor close, ruled a draw. That fight lasts another minute and John would have been stopped. John was hurt and in deep trouble at the time the final bell rang. The rematch with John was wider for John, but again, Rocky had John ready to go in the final round. Indeed Rocky would have captured a World Championship of some kind if he were in his prime today, but as far as I'm concerned, Rocky became a World Champion against MAB. 42 proffesional fights and never was stopped. If by chance Rocky reads these boards, "Good luck Champ!"
Well, at least he'll always have his amateur world title and Olympic medal. Pity he never quite managed it at pro level
