finally someone who understands. lol and i never critisied him for fighting the likes of green, srr and the others(and most of those guys whipped him) the graziano srr fight is a joke ive seen it a million times rocky hits ray on the neck ray goes down for about two seconds then knocks out rocky so hard he knocked his mouth piece into the crowd.) i just noticed a lot of his wins were over guys with bad losing records.

Graziano was protected, but not that much more than other champions of the modern era. He certainly wasn't a fraud.

With your mention of Harold Green, D, it reminded me of an incident
that happened at the old Gramercy Gym on 14th St in New York.

I’m sittin' ringside watching sparring and talking fights with some of the regulars and another guy joins the conversation and introduces himself as Harold Green.

Harold Green was a helluva middleweight from the '40s -- beat Rocky Graziano twice.

As soon as one of the guys hears him say Harold Green, he’s all over him with questions. Wants to know every detail of what it was like facing Graziano: Was Graziano as hard a puncher as everyone said? Did Graziano every hurt him?

The guy couldn't have been nicer -- showed us how he slipped Rocky’s right and made him pay; how he kept Rocky off-balance with his jab -- spent hours answering every question before he had to leave.

The guy asking the questions was Harold Green.

Am I mistaken or did Graziano have the reputation of a guy who did a lot of business? If that's true he was protected, controlled, abused at times, often handsomely rewarded. From what I heard Graziano was a sweetheart, and as a fighter I'd say he had as much heart as anyone. Even if lacking in polish, he was very tough, had a good right hand.

Not even that, more like criticizing Hopkins for fighting blown up Pavlik.

Apparently not, as Servo was the favorite going into that fight.

So was Billy Arnold, and Zale in their rematch, and I believe Cochran in their first fight as well.

Not only that, Servo, Cochrane, and Zale were all legit unified world champions at the time Graziano fought them.

Given that, I don't see how you could dismiss him as a "protected" fighter any more than you could claim someone like Hopkins was a protected fighter.
