I think peak for peak it would indeed have been a war.

I think at that time LaMotta would have walked all over Graziano, he was past it.

When I was growing up, this was the most anticipated fight in New York -- if not the sport: Two goombahs goin' at it head-to-head.

I used to see them together around the neighborhood; all the kids tagged behind. They were really tight -- not just delinquents, but juvenile strong-arm guys on every police blotter in the city.

Their bout was the only topic around the dinner table, in barber shops and on the corner. Posters were plastered on construction sites, telephone poles, buses and trains.

Whatever the "real" reason for the fizzle, it was a huge let-down.

But they had the gallery in stiches daily at Stillman's Gym, with smack of what they'd have done to each other had they fought.

LaMotta was a very big and pysically strong MW whether Graziano was rather a small MW. And the difference was, that Graziano´s was at the best mediocre, and LaMotta´s was pure iron. I can only immagine a midround LaMotta- TKO.

    LaMotta TKO 8 Graziano

Probably Jake; he was made of iron...but it would've been a helluva crowd pleaser.

If I remember correctly, they never fought because they were very close friends.

noo thats not the case, i read jakes raging bull and he said they had signed to fight but something happen to rocky and he had to back out and it was never planed again, plus these two guys were friends but also in jakes book he says that they once fought in the street, i think there two would of have fought each other in the ring just to see who was better >

LaMotta's chin would cancel out Rocky's big punch, and (imo) LaMotta was the more complete fighter.

Graziano called Lamotta Policeman ,because he fought the guys Rocky wanted to miss,Lamotta would have been too strong and relentless for Rocky imo.
