Rocky's a subject close to my heart, from the first day I cut grade school to go to Stillman's Gym.

I watched Rocky hittin' a speed bag smokin a cigarette.

He looked down and said, "Why ain't you in school?

    "Why ain't you?" I said.

He laughed like hell. From that moment on, he took me around, introduced me to everyone and gave me boxing tips.

Years later, after he hung'em up and was cashin' in on his celebrity in showbiz, we re-connected and had some good times.

Don't mistake the self-deprecating showbiz-buffoon with the STONE killer in the ring and the street.

Sorry I dont sell from collection, just letting you know what was filmed and exists. The Green fight is the one that Green claimed he threw. The one which he goes down, stays down for the count, then gets up and tries to attack everybody. Interesting viewing.

John, great story! I would have loved to say I'd been to Stillman's but I was way too young. Graziano was one of a kind.

    Shommel,

Allow me to intercede here on Klomp`s behalf and explain something to you as a long time film collector and trader. I do understand where he is coming from and there are reasons as to why some fights cannot be forwarded, and I`ll share those reasons with you and everyone else on this board right now:

    1. Some fights you can only obtain if you agree not to sell/trade on. This is fair enough if the original collector has paid hundreds (as I have done for some of my rarest fights) or thousands of dollars for a film and doesnt want to see it passed 'round for $10 or traded to others for some Holyfield or Tyson fights which are easily obtainable.

    2. Some films are very rare - only owned by a single collector. Now if for example I had a film for example Sonny Liston vs Zora Folley - this I could use to obtain a fight film that is owned by another collector. Some of these collectors are well off and will not take money - but they will swap film. Now if you hand that Liston fight out to everyone then you no longer have bargaining power ! And thats what its all about ! There are old collectors who are just interested in the fights and they know that they can only obtain new rare fights by trading their rare fights.

    3. Some collectors have bought from TV stations and copyright doesnt allow to forward on!

I hope this explains to you and anyone else why klompton will not sell the fights he mentioned, as I am in the same position in regards to some of the rare items from my own collection. I know it sucks but it is something that one has to accept unless they have a lot of money to spend on fights or if you have something rare of your own to offer another collector.

BIG DEE HERE= The modern fight fan vastly underrates Rocky Graziano like a
fight between Jake LaMotta and Graziano is a forgone conclusion with LaMotta wiping the floor with Graziano. I think it would be an open ended fight as The only ones to KO Graziano were Tony Zale and Ray Robinson two of the hardest hitting Middleweights of all Middleweight champions. LaMotta wasn`t in their class as a puncher and would have a hard time KOing
Graziano. He would have to wear Rocky down to do the job but Rocky on the other hand was one of the hardest hitting Middleweight champions in Zale and Robinson`s class. Jake LaMotta led with his chin and was the type of fighter that Rocky loved to fight as he was almost impossible to miss with a
punch. One reason they never fought was that they were best frends fron the old neighborhood and the second reason was that LaMotta`s people
didn`t want anything to do with Graziano in the late 40s as they were trying
to get a title shot with Zale and then Cerdan. Graziano was a dangerous opponent who could end a fight with one punch and LaMotta and Graziano had the gloves on many times as kids growing up on the LOWER EAST SIDE.
LaMotta knew how hard Graziano could hit and didn`t want to risk getting caught with a big shot. LAMOTTA WASN`T STUPID AS YA HE WOULD MORE THAN LIKELY BEAT GRAZIANO BUT THE CHANCE OF GETTING NAILED BY ONE OF THE BIGGEST PUNCHER IN MIDDLEWEIGHT HISTORY WAS TO BIG TO CHANCE. CERDAN HURT LAMOTTA IN THEIR FIGHT AND HE ONLY HAD ONE ARM. WHAT WOULD GRAZIANO DO AS HE HIT HARDER THAN CERDAN AND HE WOULD HAVE HAD TWO GOOD ARMS.
