He fought some of the best fighters in his division and still kept it moving despite not ever winning a major title. I think that more fighters should be pushed along like Juarez was and should fight the best fighters in the weight class he's competing in ... at a early stage in his career. Look at who he's fought: Humberto Soto Marco Antonio Barrera x2 Juan Manuel Marquez Chris John x2 All 4 fighters are great champions and have a ton of experience on the job. What i'm trying to get to is ... Will Juarez ever win a major world title? ... if so who could he make a move on?
As long as GBP keeps hammering at it, he might eventually do it. I agree with the general tone of your post, though. I respect him for continuing to face the absolute best opposition rather than trying to cherry pick.
I think he can beat Guerrero but i'm not sure if he'll be able to match him in work rate ... Guerrero has a questionable chin, questionable heart, and he will trade. I just wonder when his experience is going to kick in ...
Rocky is one of my favorites. I think he might have been moved along a little too fast though. I still think he has a chance of winning some a major title. I think it will be uphill though.
Don't forget he also has wins over Guty Espadas & Zahir Raheem. :deal Although I think he may have squandered his last shot at a title after that poor performance in the John fight. Good fighters will always beat him because he's too complacent, and lesser title holders will never fight him because he hits too hard and he's too dangerous. Never say never though, if he does get a shot he's going to have to work his ass off to earn another one.
Yessir. Juarez is like the David Tua of featherweights. Solid chin, solid skills, great punching power, and has fought at a world class level for several years without a single world title to show for it.
Hat off go to Juarez, hes got lots of heart. I thought both the Chris John fights were exciting - 12th round he had John staggering both times.
Juarez can be prety ****ing frustrating to watch. Late in the John rematch and in the first Barrera fight it looked like he had an opportunity to stop both guys as their stamina wore down... and not because Juarez stepped it up mind you. If Rocky had actually stepped it up and been more aggressive earlier in those two fights there's a good chance he would've KOed both.
