Decided to make a dedicated thread for this British scrapper from Liverpool, 'The Explosive' Rocky Kelly. There was only one thread I could find on this whole site regarding Rocky, on his bout with Chris Sanigar. Rocky was no where near a great boxer, but he had some exciting bouts that I was fond of. Rocky was everything you could want to see in a boxer. Fiercely aggressive and full of heart. He fought in the great 80s boxing peroid. http://sweetfightingman.com/first-article-4-2-2-3/ Article on Rocky and his career. This content is protected Rocky's bout with Chris Sanigar. Yeah, Kelly was one of the good entertaining fighters of the 1980s. I remember watching him on Midweek sports programmes or on Saturday afternoons on either World of Sport ITV or Grandstand BBC or ITV Boxing, back in the day when boxing was a stable of television.
Very entertaining to watch. I'm of the younger crowd, so I'd didn't get to see him box at the time, but my dad is a fan, so I'm glad I learnt about him!

A fun fighter with a good following, I only really remember the end of his career, his title fights with Laing and Jacobs. ITV clearly liked him, and I am pretty sure Jacobs/Kelly was strong enough to open Midweek Sports Special.
Great fighter! I think he was from London originally but relocated to Liverpool. Il never forget when he said the âFâ word live on TV after yet another hard fought victory. I was only about 12 at the time watching it with my brother, it was a afternoon show as well and we found it hysterical. Mum however was not amused.
