[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ee925OTFBCA[/ame] Rocky is in a bad way these days after suffering from drug addiction and a stroke, its terrible to see him in the video above. The nine million hits on that video however seems to have encouraged people to have upload his fights to youtube. Including the Pedroza, Gomez, Laporte and Lopez fights. How do you guys rate him at 130 pounds and what do you think of his career, its fair to say he was on the wrong end of some controversial decisions involving Gomez and Pedrosa (more due to dodgy scoring however) but do you feel that if he had got the nod against these two greats he would have landed up in the hall of fame? I'm of the opinion that he would be a top p4p talent today with his agressive stlye but his fan friendly style didn't lend itself to a long career. Here is possibly his defining victory [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5gynJA6ZI8[/ame]
I thought he was doing better since the intervention with his sons?? Last I heard he was living in Louisiana and doing well?
He was robbed against Gomez. I had him winning the first Lopez fight clearly (plus Lopez was given 16 seconds to get up from a knockdown in round 8). He could've gotten the nod against Pedroza (I think in the first fight). Very good fighter. I agree a couple of those decisions might have gotten him in the Hall of fame.
Definately a very good fighter.. and if he had Gomez Pedroza Mayweather Boza Edwards etc on his resume then i'm sure he would be more highly thought of now. Personally I feel that he is one of Chavez' better wins especially considering the broken hand. As you say its hard to find a way to give Gomez the nod in there fight and Rocky was on the wrong end of a 149 - 139 scorecard in the Pedroza fight... so its probably fair to say he never stood a chance of getting the nod in that fight.
