Yes, we all know that Foreman had some of the biggest biceps out of any heavyweight champion, but that does not mean everyone else's arms were skinny. Holmes's biceps were still bigger than Rocky's by about 2 inches, but that has nothing to do with how well they will fight.

  2. but rocky was 5´11 and 187 pounds... holmes was 6´3.... according to their sizes, rocky had more compact and stronger arms for sure.

Well, yes. It still does not mean that Holmes had skinny arms, and he was also pretty strong himself. Rocky was just a short and compact bull that was incredibly strong and was one of the hardest punchers to ever live.

Rocky at 5'11, 187lbs was stronger than most fighters who were 6'3, 225lbs. Holmes at 6'3-6'4, 209-212lbs was also a pretty strong fighter. Rocky was obviously stronger, but that was his style. Holmes was much better at boxing, but when he wanted to, he could stand there toe to toe with most people.

This topic has been beat to death....

Holmes sticks, moves, glides and punches Marciano into submission by round 13 in a time machine... Marciano is cut and battered when the ref steps in and saves Marciano from the highly skilled Larry Holmes....

Holmes via TKO in the mid to late rounds. Different size and class of fighters here. Marciano always has a punchers chance, but Holmes has a very battle tested and proven chin, and unlike Walcott, never took silly risks in the ring.

Holmes for me, that jab would be just to much for the Rock to get by.

    I fancy Marciano's chances here.

I just don't think that Holmes would he able to keep him off for 15 rounds

    Its Holmes by a mile!

Larry was a much better boxer than Rocky and at least as good a puncher. Prime Larry also had great legs and an awsome chin.

Rocky wasn't big enough and couldnt box well enough to seriously trouble Holmes. Furthermore Rocky might have been unbeaten but his record is weak compared to Holmes who proved himself time and again over a much longer career.

Its not really fair to match up a small, crude 1950s champ with a big, modern great like Larry Holmes.

Holmes' choice of words were inappropriate and unkind however he was more or less correct.

I don't see how Marciano could live with a fighter of Holmes' size and ability. Prime Larry was special.

Watch the tapes, compare the oposition.

Where did Walcott make silly risks in the Marciano fight, all that happened was Joe was setting him up for the right hand and Rocky got his there first.
