Archie Moore would probably beat Ron Lyle himself by the way.

Without a doubt. Archie would get a dominant win over a 38 year old Peralta too.

Abc logic. How Moore does has very little do with how Rocky would do against Lyle. Different styles, different boxers.

I know that, but I've seen here people questioning Moore's goodness at HW. I decided to give him some love then ;)

    Obsession.

Liston in his fighting days was 6'1". Louis was 1/2" taller had 8" less reach and was around a dozen pounds lighter.

Perhaps he might but he's an entirely different style to Marciano. I'm not sure his brilliance would overcome the physical factors. It's a hard fight to picture.

Moore beating Lyle "without a doubt" is pretty silly.

Stating i can't see him dropping Holmes, Tyson or Ali is hardly questioning his "goodness" tho. He was a "good" heavyweight but that would be the ceiling for me.

Lyle - Moore would be a nice poll thread. Moore is highly respected in here and quite a few of us rolled the dice on him beating Shavers.

Marciano was probably limited only to the number of top class fights that he had once he reached that level. Within that time frame and that limited number of fights it is perfectly reasonable to say Marciano beats everyone Archie Moore ever beat across his entire career on a fight by fight basis. And we know this because Rocky thrashed Archie during the best spell of Moores career.

Moore overcame physical factors plenty of times. It's not that hard to picture, he handled Valdes quite easily (I'm aware, Lyle was better than Valdes but how much better?).

I think Moore was fantastic HW, not all-timer but certainly had deep resume at that division.

Not one mention of Quarry's success smothering Lyle on the inside. Quarry did not beat Lyle by retreating and boxing on his toes the entire fight, much of his success was doing the same thing Marciano would do, staying close, grappling, looping hooks and uppercuts around Lyle's guard. If Lyle was a killer that would stop the Rock, he wouldn't have let the smaller Quarry stay on the inside so much and boss him. Quarry is not stronger or more durable than the Rock, and his stamina is not even close. Quarry was 12 lbs heavier but at a significant higher body fat percent. He was quicker than Lyle but Marciano would be too...Lyle was not a fast trigger guy. Lyle is not Foreman, and that's what you need to be favored over Marciano.

He didn't have much trouble with Valdes in their first meeting, but that was before Valdes became a contender, and he was in the middle of a four-bout losing streak. The rematch, immediately before Moore met Marciano, was a very competitive, bruising affair which most observers thought was closer than the referee's 8-5-2 scorecard.

How many times did Moore overcome the same or more substantial physical factors he would face against a guy as good as Lyle would you say?

Valdes got outboxed by a lot of people. I'm not saying Moore couldn't get past Lyle but i wouldn't be quite gifting him a win either it would have to be earned.
