Just prime for prime, even at cruiserweight, Holyfield looks so fast and constantly hits, but you've got to think that this would be a war, both men are trading and a cruiser trading with Marciano most of the time makes a mistake imo. It would be one of the greatest fights ever for sure. I'm not conclusive with my pick but i'm definitely thoughtful of Marciano's chances.

I'm off to bed now though mate, check your reply tomorrow.

I think Marciano beats cruiser-weight Holyfield. That Evander would no doubt go to war which wouldn't be the best move. He can box better and has quicker hands but can't match Marciano's power, stamina, and pace for 15 rounds. The Heavyweight version makes it a bit interesting because I don't know how much Holyfield holds and spoils. It's harder to pick. In some ways the bigger bulked up Holyfield is slower, more limited, and gases quicker. So who knows... he certainly doesn't have that monster HW punch that makes picking Marciano seem absurd or anything.

I think Cruiserweight Holyfield simply had too few fights at cruiserweight, and frankly did not gain a lot of his physical strength until he bulked up and gained the experience of facing bigger, better men... I would always pick Evander to beat Rocky in his heavyweight form, but at 185 lbs, there were probably few men who could have topped the Rock.

This is the truth. His stumpy, short-limbed and narrow shouldered physique was not a great template for adding weight.... unless you mean by eating gallons of pasta, as he did post-career.

If he had fought in the 80's and 90's, he would have pulled out a couple of good victories but the wear and tear of fighting those monsters every time out would have added up quickly. He had a short enough career in the era of blown-up light heavies... don't ask too much of him.

I think Holy would beat Marciano.

He has the speed, accuracy and counter punching ability to get to The Rock that way, and the chin, heart and grit to come through any hard patches. So does Marciano, so I think it goes to the cards.

    Holyfield, decision.

As finished products I like Holyfield but the Evander that won the title from Qwai would not have survived 15 with Maciano .. no way ..
