Elaborate .. what does this mean ? Williams was bigger, stronger, faster and a better puncher with either hand. Their ability to absorb punishment was on par ... how do yu see it differently ?

It would depend exactly when Tyson lost focus and who he lost focus against. It is verry plausible that the Tyson of the Douglas fight would have lost to some of Marciano's better opponents.

Marciano would have had issues with Tysons schedule and the speed at which he was moved. Even so, his consistency and aplication would have likley got him past Tysons early opponents. He would have picked up ringwear faster, and would not have been sucesful at world level for as long as Tyson, in the unlikley event that he tried.

His biggest aceivment relative to Tyson, is that he almost certainly does not take James Douglas lightly, and probably finds a way to win. It is even possible that he might have had enough left to beat Holyfield. After that he looses to everybody who beat Tyson and perhaps more. In practice he would not have gone to prison, and this would have accelerated his ring wear and concequent decline.

what world champions did williams ever beat? layne was leagues above the big cat who never beat rated fighters. williams was great winning miss matches and exciting losing to world level fighters but never beat any! layne beat world level fighters, that has to go further than just looking like a bad ass.

think about it were they? holmes, tucker, biggs and douglas were tall but the rest no taller than 1950s rated HW's. they just weighed more. why? because 1980s fighters trained like 1980s fighters and 1950s fighters trained like 1950s fighters thats why! Not saying it made them better just saying the 1950s training regime makes a 1980s fighter 20lb lighter.

The fact that a game but limited fighter like Layne was able to squeeze decisions over Charles and Walcott is proof of how faded they were than proff of Layne as any world beater .. I do not view Layne as any better than the Cobb that stopped Shavers ...

do you maintain big cat williams was better than layne? a fighter who could not beat rated heavyweights?

charles and walcott were beating fighters of the level williams never got past when rex beat them.

What I meant is that while Williams was physically superior to Layne , he was **** (simply because he lost 2 every remotely decent fighter he ever fought) , and Layne , who did he beat ? Bob Satterfield .
Of course ppl will jump with d : "Charles & Walcott 2" , but I need 2c a distance fight in order 2 consider him a beating , or at least 2 read something convincing about it , which I also didn't find in boxrec regarding these fights .
So , in terms of achievements at least , they really were on par despite that I meant it as a joke , because neither 1 of them was good . They were much more 1 trick ponys than Guys like Ross Puritty .

ross puritty was a guy who could fight enough to stay safe but never fought to win at a good level. williams always fought to win and was an exciting fighter but never beat good fighters. he lost at a good level trying to win. rex won big ones at agood level. some. It goes further.

Firpo looked dreadful on film, worse than most amatuer boxers. He looked like a bar room brawler. Firpo would never be able to beat Ezzard Charles or Jersey Joe Walcott. Layne would outclass Firpo.
