I never knew that Marciano's vision was obstructed in his first meeting with JJW. Interesting. I guess it just goes to show us how tough the Rock really was. There wasn't a drop of quit in that man. I really think that he would have died in the ring before ever retiring in his corner. Boxing is full of great warriors, but some are more courageous than others, and Marciano was one of a kind. On a sidenote, I still give Walcott a lot of credit for his efforts in that fight. He was 37 years old and taking on one of the greatest heavyweights of all time, but still gave one of the most galant losing efforts in title fight history. That first fight was a classic ring war.

No.. No.. No.. Im quite serious.

As champion, his list of defences is pathetic. Defending against aged former champions was a tasty treat for most newly crowned champions from the time of Jeffries (over rated also... but HIS head didnt fall off). Problem with Marciano fighting Charles and Walcott is he nearly came unstuck. Unbeaten... NOT UNBEATABLE.

Trash?? Why is Zoolander you choice of avatar???

    Well Now

1st, this Thread was made, Not to give More Credit..He doesnt need More Credit the Man Won the fight. The Point of this thread (If you can read) is to highlight the fact that People seem to not know this, its Called "LEARNING" The Whole Point of the CLASSIC Forum is to talk about HISTORY

2nd, flamengo, Your whole arguement about Walcott not being able to Damage Rocky while he couldnt see is a Pure JOKE, YES Sonny Hit harder then Walcott, But because your so simple minded you fail to see that Ali had the Legs and Speed to avoid Sonny for 1 round, After that round His Eyes Cleared...

on the Other hand, Rocky Didnt Avoid Jersey Joe, He Kept Coming Forward and Kept taking shots, Not to mention Rocky's Eye's Were Blurred for More then One Round....

Save the smart arse comments Pencil Dick.

Yes, Marciano being a ONE DIMENTIONAL FIGHTER kept coming forward.. Thats all his ability allowed. No lateral movement and no ability to fight off the backfoot. Being a midget would not allow for any other style.

Had Walcott been 4 years younger, Marciano would have been in serious trouble, with or without his eyes being blurred.

(YES I can read) clown. Thats why Im posting here. I can also watch film of Marciano, which leads me to commenting.

Billy Conn was unfortunate against Loius... having picked Louis apart for 13 rounds ... Tommy Farr was very, very unlucky against Louis... Both have the making to better Marciano.

Rocky's fitness was second to few in the H/W history... reilance on fitness to keep his head cleared during punishing exchanges carried him through.

If he'd had a little more than stamina to keep him going a few more years, being matched with Liston would have been a pleasure to see. You'd be very disappointed in Marciano had that fight eventuated.

It Is Well Known That Walcott's Fight Against Marciano Was One of if Not THE best Performance of His career.

I Didn't Read your Full Comment Because To Be Honest You don't Know what you are Talking about, so you cover it up with things Like "Midget" and "His Head fell off"

I Will Not Reply to You after this Because You are Boring and there is no Ending to this Arguement, We can argue for 5 hours and still get no where.

Its a Shame People like you choose to Post Here. Nearlly Everything you say is BS, The only thing that Isnt BS is your Location under you avatar, You are Truely "Lost"

You refuse to argue due to your arguement being limited.

'Best fight of his career".. against a 38 Y/O has been.. Thats amusingly brilliant mate. Dropped by Archie Moore.. another great performance.

Perhaps you should attempt to argue my points.

No I Refuse To Argue Due To YOU Being Limited.

a Good Example of that Is When i Said That Walcott Fought One of His Best Fights , You Think I was Talking about Rocky.

Anouther Example is You Calling Sonny Liston "Sonni"

    Anyway, Im Done With this.
