I thought the Skehan book was fine ,haven't read the other one.
Adam Pollack is setting the mark for biographies of the heavyweight champions, he is currently working on vol 2 of Jack Johnson so it will be a while chronologically before he gets up to Rocky.

I found it in an Oxfam shop the other day and haven't started it yet properly but just from flicking through so far I know it's gunna be awesome and man is it an impressive item - it's feckin ma-who-siv - literally the size of a coffee table and about as thick as the bible - had to triple bag it on the way home - my suspension took a pounding on the drive home with it too! A fittingly heavy handed book for Marciano
