Rocky Marciano Circa 1951 Versus Lennox Lewis Circa 2003

IMO Lennox stops Rocky.

 

Marciano doesn't know anything about boxing. Defense, footwork, guard, just a real messy fighter. He knows so little about boxing The Rock doesn't even know how to lose.

 

This reminds me of a quote by a French Marshal during the Napoléonic Wars, talking about British troops he faced in the Peninsular War, & how they were hard to defeat because of their incompetence.

“I always thought they were bad soldiers, now I am sure of it. I had turned their right, pierced their centre, & everywhere, victory was mine…but they didn’t know how to run.”

I think the Germans said something similar about the Americans in one of the World Wars, didn’t they?

Good, bad or somewhere in between, Marciano would have to get mighty lucky to beat Lewis.

 

Lewis pulls out one more victory

 

Pre Stewart Lewis will get caught and KOed but Stewart Lewis would beat Marciano by late TKO or wide UD.

Remember prime Marciano was better than faded Tyson or Morrison so I expect him surviving full fight but losing by UD, but he would always have a punchers chance.

So prime for prime Lewis unless it's pre Stewart Lewis against whom I'll pick FOTC Frazier and prime Marciano.

 

Maybe it all depends on which side of the Marciano-Mercer debacle you fell on

 

Lennox Lewis and it's pretty brutal, Rocky doesn't particularly have a chance here. Really unfair to compare steroid era fighters to non steroid era fighters


Wait I just read 2003 Lennox, unironically Rocky has a chance here. Lewis looked like total **** against Vitali and Marciano MAY be able to grind him to gas in the mid rounds and find a big shot to stop it. He'd be butchered nonstop along the way though and may get stopped. Especially on cuts.

The favorite should be Lennox, but Rocky has a chance

Like this is one of them where you think of all the scenarios where Marciano could pull this off.

Anyway Lewis TKO around the 10th after serious damage.
