Marciano gets off the canvas to loose via TKO round 8.
    Silly thread.

Marciano gets off the canvas to discover the fight ended half an hour before.

I'll go one step further, Oliver McCall, dragged straight from the crackhouse and into a 72 hour bender, destroys the lil feller within 3.

Even if there was a 185 pound heavyweight champion, he'd need to be fundamentally sound and have good technique and he'd need some outstanding physical traits. When I watch RM on video, I don't see anything that he does that is impressive or that I would want to do myself or teach others. His balance, fundamentals, technique are not good, and he doesn't have any outstanding physical traits. That he went undefeated says a lot about his competition. He wasn't fighting Oliver McCall types.

Have you ever heard a good trainer say "I want my guy to (punch, move, parry, slip, roll, anything?) like Marciano? I haven't.

Always bet on the black guy. Except when he is crying.

Marciano would give him a valid reason to cry.

Well then that tells more about you than Rocky. You can't beat fighters like Moore or Charles if you are so bad.

I have to ask - how many Rocky fights have you seen? From all your posts I've read it seems that you watched only one fight against Walcott.

Rocky Marciano apparently doesn't have outstanding stamina.

We would find out what kind of body punch Oliver could take. Lots of those iron chin guys do not absorb to the body very well at all. I strongly suspect McCall is one of those types as well and will give you his head every time to avoid a body punch.

That said, I think Rocky stops him late. The body work. Oliver would do his customary 20 punches a round and by the 10th round it'd be 10 punches a round. I think he sits on the stool sometime around the 13th round and does not go out for the next round. Rocky will take him to a place and level McCall will not react well and the demons surface.

That 185 pound HWs tend to be Cruiserweights?

Please.... There's a multitude more cash to be had 15 pounds higher (or 5 pounds higher from 1979 till about 2005). Anyone who is/was as good as people claim Marciano to have been would make the jump and would be recognized as capable of fighting the bigger boys.

But for a couple rare runs, moments of "capture the flag" against vulnerable champs, they aren't and there aren't and there haven't been.

To answer your question George, and to answer it comprehensively,...the first Lewis-McCall fight was a fluke, pure and simple...aided and abetted by Lewis's inattention, meaning lack of focus and purpose.

    Chris Byrd.

Even after spending years bulking and lifting weights he could still cut to Light Heavyweight.
