Louis was posting comparable results against common opponents with all of them. Agramante went the distance with Henry just like he did with Louis. Same with Bob Baker he went the distance with Agramante as well. Charles went the distance with Brion just like he did with Louis. Beshore went 10 more rounds with Charles than he did with Louis. Louis had beat Walcott the champion. Layne had a harder fight with Brion than Joe Louis did. Louis beat Savold and Beshore as quick as Rocky had. It’s not difficult to see where comeback Louis fits in here. Back then all the contenders fought each other. On paper Comeback Louis compared well with all of them. Only Marciano and Charles beat him.
All I'm getting from Chok is that Joe Louis was still an elite fighter. A shadow of his former self, but that shadow was still elite in the context of the era. I'm not getting anything from him to suggest he's attempting to make Louis look better than he was. I'm not one to speak for another man so I'll leave it at that.

Well Tua turned pro at age 20, at 201 pounds. What do you think his ideal weight was? Far less than 250 pounds.
You said, " The difference between Tua and Marciano? About 55 pounds! " If your using the Ruiz fight, that is not correct! You're only off by 15 pounds. If you use Tua's debut before he accumulated body fat, the difference between them is about 15 pounds.
At 5’9” his BMI recommended weight should be no more than 187lb. Naturally athletes can be heavier but not 65lb more.
