If I recall correctly, Chuvalo made a prime Ali **** blood despite the beating he received. Warrior.

Ali actually baited Chuvalo into ripping him to the body. Big mistake

Frazier and Foreman stopped him in 3 and 5 rounds respectfully. So he'd have 2 loses.....

Either way Chuvalo was a hard ****.

It's true, but I believe Chuvalo went into the Frazier fight with a pre-existing eye injury, and Foreman, aside from Foreman being Foreman, didn't even knock Chuvalo down, Chuvalo was still punching back and the ref later said he was reacting to Chuvalo's wife and manager (something like that) and Chuvalo had clear-headedly looked at the ref and said "What are you nuts?" when the stoppage happened.

Chuvalo is a prime example of a HOF level fighter who never held a belt. A lot of people go on about Jerry Quarry, and probably rightfully, but Chuvalo was a beast in the ring.

He is certainly a big piece of the history but he also lost pretty much every time he stepped up in competition.

I feel for people like him and Jerry Quarry. They fought everyone but got swallowed up by those at the elite level.

Wonder how Chuvalo would do myself if he fought back in the day when they had bare-knuckle fights...or even early boxing with the addition of gloves after when rounds went on and on until someone dropped or someone decided to call the match.

    Strong like Bull.

    No ****ing way.

Warrior or not, he never beat a great fighter.. hell he never beat a GOOD fighter.

Shannon Briggs has a better resume of wins than George Cuvalo.

Did Rocky Marciano live long enough to see Chuvalo's fights?

    EDIT:

    Yeah, I guess he did.

He beat Big Cat Williams and Quarry, for instance. True, I think Briggs has a better resume too, and I hope people don't forget him down the stretch for Canastota. You forget when he fought. That era was full of really greats. For a every lucky bum like Chuck Wepner, you had five truly worthy fighters who could have gotten a belt in another era. Chuvalo could have ripped into almost anyone in the division today.
