I thought Mathews looked good in the 1st rd but even with Rocky missing badly with his hook there seemed an air of inevitability about the result, what with Mathews continually pulling away with his right hand down by his waist.

One of the best Marciano fights. Those two finishing left hooks are a piece of beauty.

Matthews was a West Coast hype job... at least according to Archie Moore.

And while I believe that to an extent, Marciano did his job with chilling efficiency.

I love Matthews style and footwork while it lasted. Marciano's speed was underrated possibly because of his short reach and crouch. He executed that double left hook quite uniquely. Men looked about the same size but the Rock generated incredible dynamism for a small man.

Hurley made Mathews, they passed on a LHvy shot against Maxim to shoot for the big $$$.

I agree Matthews did look good until the 2nd round that is.
The double left hook was a nice touch by Marciano.

One minute before the double left hook, there's a right hand from hell that grazes Harry's jaw, and that did it. Marciano was the hardest puncher in the history of the sport.

St. Paul style. Always easy on the eye.

This is the first time I really had a chance to see Matthews. Loved those sneaky counters. Wonder what he could have done in his career if he stuck to 175.

I love a good left hook, 2 is even better. What a classic knockout. Love watching that one
