After watching a few rocky fights over again i just cant see anyone beating this machine. He was the toughest of em all.The Ezzard Charles fights are unbelievable the 15th round he comes out like its the 1st round and the second fight with the horrendous cut he shows no fear and KOs charles before the ref stopped the fight.People say that era of heavyweights werent the greatest but you can only beat whats in front of you and imo that era was a good one.How the hell can Ali be the greatest, the Ali of the 60s marciano hunts down relentlessly and wins a decision,The Ali of the 70s with his rope a dope gets brutally Knocked out, imagine Marciano instead of foreman in 74! heres a great video with the man doing commentary [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVIJvR9sm5U[/ame]
Marciano was a pure fighting man. One of the greatest fighters ever, for sure. Round 6 of the Moore fight is one of my favourite Marciano rounds. That's pure fighting. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzmlTHnd5KE&feature=related[/ame] 3:28 to 6:28 ..... an excellent round of action.
Ali would n't use the rope a dope tactic against Marciano. Muhammad was among the most savvy of fighters. He would know that what worked with George Foreman would n't against Rocky. The Ali of '74 would still win,but by using the ring. Having said all this,I respect Marciano as one of the ring's true greats.
indeed a very good round altough I prefer the early marciano, I liked the first knockdown, Moore had an good chin.
Marciano gave you everything he had for 3 minutes of every round...he hurt you no matter where he hit you...he had no fear...pain meant nothing to him...he broke bones and blood vessels...he smashed teeth into gums...Carmine Vingo never fought again...Roland LaStarza had surgery to remove blood clots in his arms from the beating he received from Marciano in 1953...cut...floored and behind on all score cards...he threw the greatest right hand ever and beat JJW for the title in 1952...had his nose split open to the BONE against Ezzard Charles in 1954...and stormed back with a KO win and kept the title...great heart...power...stamina...chin...conditioning...very high work rate...round after round of relentless attack...as George Foreman said:"The bell would ring...he'd be on you...the bell would ring...he'd stop...the bell would ring he'd be on you!"...put The Rock in with anyone...tough to beat a guy like this over 15 rounds with a left jab...
