What was he supposed to do in the first fight? Give him a break and not win the title? atsch Haters say the darnest things.
Marciano was indeed a one punch ko artist the fact he was able to carry it all the way to the 13th round is amazing. Especially when he was taking a bad beating himself.
One punch is not really one punch when you have hammered away at a guy for 13 rounds, is it? He tried that same right hand numerous times in the fight. Never did it have near the same effect. I am not taking away from the Rock. He was an awesome fighter, one of my favorites. But he was primarily an attrition guy at his best, a hard f*cking punching attrition guy, but just that. There are so few genuine one-punch guys and those that there are were guys who had impeccable timing not some other-wordly power. The guys with that overthetop power usually just swung away until the job was done. The one punch guys would pull rabbits out of the hat.
So the fact that he beat on a 37years old man for 13 rounds before finally getting him out, that it took him9 rds to get rid of ****ell ,9rds to finish a 40 years old Moore,11 rds to stop Lastarza on his feet,8 rds to finish a past it Charles, should be ignored?:think Marciano was a grinder,he wore you down with an incessant bombardment.
Layne ,whose defence was very porous ,was softened up by a bombardment to the body.Walcott was 37& 38 years old ,he was never the most durable of fighters at his best. Walcott succumbed after 13 rds of incessant action, going to the ropes when his aging legs began to go.In the rematch I think he could have got up but decided not to.. Marciano ruined fighters simply because he beat them up over many rounds, of sustained punishment ,eg ****ell,Lastarza,Layne, Charles. One punch kayo artists take you out without all that attrition .
No, because it still took only one punch thrown to make all the lights go out for that 37 year old and a fat Rex Layne. I don't care if it was the 1st or the 13th round it's still a impressive display of one punch power. I also don't care how long it took him to finish in only six out of another 43 fights quite a few not recorded to finish someone. Every puncher has turned or at least tried to turn into a grinder at some point. If you want to set the bar high for a one punch ko go ahead whatever helps give you peace of mind.
Yes, he was, but the Walcott kayo was a true, one punch knockout. Walcott was still very much in the fight until that right hand crumpled him.
I showed you two examples of clean one punch Ko's on film that had a visible effect. These KO's were vs men of class, hardly journeymen types. It didn't take Rocky long to ruin Vingo. I'd like to see you list a heavyweight KO artists who produced more one punch KO's on film ( 2 ) . I'm thinking you won't reply... PS: If you want to talk about someone old, and porous, Dempsey must have hit Willard something like 50+ times hard before he finished him. I don't think Marciano was the hardest hitter ever, but he most certainly retained his power in the later rounds, had power in both hands, and could fire either gun's all night. Probably a top 20 all time heavyweight puncher on pure power, but some of the better punches were limited to one KO hand, and others had stamina issues. If Rocky had better accuracy or longer range he would have finished people sooner.
Yes, McVey thinks that way. I asked him to list a heavyweight KO artists who produced more one punch KO's on film.
