Marciano, world heavyweight champion, 1952-'56. 5'10 1/2 and about 186 pounds. Eklund, European champion 1984-'85, and 1987 6'6 1/2 and about 242 pounds.
Marciano, Eklund wasn't quality.I saw him stretched out by both Noel Quarless and Frank Bruno. Size alone doesn't beat Marciano, size + quality does.
What about Rocky vs Carl Williams? Carl was big, strong and skilled, but had glass jaw. Rocky against Tony Tucker? Tall, skilled opponent and with good chin. Who would you pick in these fights?
Interesting fights. Williams would jab Rocky's head off, could Rocky get to him and find that a suspect chin?Maybe . Tucker either outboxes Marciano to take a fairly decisive decision ,or tko's him on cuts imo.He had the durability Williams lacked.
You can only $speculate it does. Nothing else. The fact is, as a professional prizefighter in his REAL LIFE lifetime NOTHING beat Rocky Marciano! Conjecture, just like this; "Only fighters with blue eyes can beat Mike Tyson". And Tyson was beaten, Rocky was not. Undefeated. Forever.
Rocky wears him down fora late stoppage.Rock on a different level for power, and Eklund nothing to offer back in return.
Eklund was average. I don't see Marciano losing to a ho-hum fighter even if he does have a lot of weight on him.
