Foreman's opponents had to be rinsed off the canvas... Walcott was a hard puncher, but inconsistent. He could be knocked out as well as outbanged. He caught Ezzard, but only once out of four times. He wasn't a one-punch hitter, and he didn't fight guys that were over 200lbs... Do the math! Just because you knock down Joe Louis (who had the second to worst chin in heavyweight championship history) a couple of times and knock out Charles once among other KO's here and there doesn't qualify as a puncher in the same bracket as Foreman...
Your comment regarding Louis was enough for me to chuck this in the trash. I guess he had a very long reign as HW champ through a china chin... you're a friggin dumb ass, bar none!
How am I a dumbass? Louis got knocked down at least ten times, the only champion to get knocked down more was Patterson... And yes, Louis fought smaller, less able men. You are the biased one... I won't call you dumb, because at least you are trying to think- Put Louis in there with Frazier and Chuvalo and Norton and Lyle. How far will he get? Does he knock them all out? Or better yet, put Walcott in there- does Walcott knock them all out in the same fashion?
Review your own feelings regarding Louis. He was a great man, and GREAT champion. I realy can't see that it is up to me to prove his legacy.... read about it for yourself, and show respect towards him in the future.
I do respect, and obviously I know what I'm talking about. Joe Louis is the greatest CHAMPION (heavyweight) ever, but not head to head against modern, bigger, better fighters. We must be realistic. There is no doubt about Louis' chin- it is part of his legacy. I am not talking about legacy, the thread was about head to head, there is not doubting Louis' legacy- I have read plenty- This is also not based on "feelings"... but intelligent objective analysis.
No small man could ever beat Foreman coming to him. Frazier, Tyson, Marciano would all get KO'ed. Frazier is shorter, less powerful, needs to come forward to be effective, cannot modify his style, he's coming right into Foreman's blows.. so he's doomed vs Big George. Marciano got plenty of heart, was more powerful and durable than Frazier but he could be rocked by lesser punchers as he showed in his career. Foreman would be his toughest matchup and I think Foreman beat him pretty easily, simply based on size and range. A prime Tyson had the better chance of the three IMO. His handspeed and explosive punching could hurt Foreman but I think Tyson would be intimidated so I give George a 70\30 edge here. The only other HW aside Ali I would choose to dominate Foreman H2H is Sonny Liston.
No, the way you talk is your OPINION regarding Joe Louis, ZERO MORE! You're the one that claimed he had a weak/china chin.. a dumb ass remark from anybody in my book...
