I have seen Foreman rocked and if he gets hit hard early,Rocky would be on him fast and furious, Marciano could get rocked or dropped but Foreman's chin would get tested and Rocky hit a lot harder than a wounded Lyle (who never won the big one) and Lyle came close to stopping George. Rocky would have to lean back and make it hard for George to get leverage and come out of the crouch on the offensive in close, there would be an exchange but Rocky has to get inside of the wide swinging Foreman and beat him to the punch, once Foreman was hurt he went down hard,Ali, Young different type (style of fighter than Marciano, but the Lyle fight shows me how a Marciano,Dempsey,Louis, and Quarry could have had success over the overated Foreman

Don't compare Foreman beating a past his prime Joe Frazier in 1973 to how a Foreman/Marciano fight would go.....The Rock had stamina and that is a determining factor in this match-up.

So Bonavena or Goss made it look easy against Frazier? Last i looked both were beaten. You might have misunderstood my direction i think.

That's one helluva big statement. A lot harder? I'm a wee bit sceptical.

He also showed against Lyle that he could come off the canvas numerous times vs a very heavy puncher and remain a frightening threat himself. Even when hurt his power gave him every chance of turning a fight around or even winning it outright vs an offensive opponent.

Foreman could not KO 5"9 Scrapiron Jonson, they stopped it on a cut and he struggled with 5"7 Dwight Quawi, so he did not always have an easy time with shorter guys and Foreman got up off the canvas vs Lyle barely but did not vs Ali although he tried and with Young he did but was lucky it was the 12th vs the light hitter. Foreman had heart but was really protected and avoided the hard punchers with good wiskers like Quarry for a reason on his way up...George had the most padded record ever, I remember clearly

I don't agree with the idea that any come forward swarmer would lose to Foreman. I think Dempsey and Marciano would stand a chance (at least do better than Frazier) against Foreman. I believe both had better chins and better power in either hand. I think if it came down to it I'd still pick Foreman, but they'd both give it their all and probably do some damage in the process.

You don't agree with the idea yet you just supported it by picking him over both.

Lets get this clear. You are criticising Foreman (in just his 14th fight incidentally) for merely stopping Scrap Iron via a cut in the 7th while leading 6-0, 5-1 and 5-0 in rounds? Someone's really going out of their way to rubbish Foreman aren't they.

At about 39 years of age and grossly overweight i think it's pretty understandable. Again, putting this version of Foreman on trial shows a pretty blatant stance.

At the end of the day Foreman fought Frazier x 2, Norton, Ali, Young and Lyle in his first career. He really didn't miss many.

Foreman couldn't take Ali's punches. He is not taking Marciano's.

I don't remember seeing this match-up before.... it's not as simple of some would have it.

There are two potential scenerios that I see as most likely when you are dealing with 1973 Foreman vs. 1953 Marciano.

    (a) Foreman does what Foreman is -a beast who gets beastly. He goes straight at Rocco at the opening bell and catches him with about 4 shots that have nuclear power. Rocky returns to his corner at the end, dazed. He doesn't see round 3 because Foreman is too big, too strong, and hits too damn hard and too damn often. Cus smiles the grin of a prophet, wherever he is.

    (b) Marciano is more of a pressure fighter than a strict swarmer. He also fights low and from a crouch. Foreman has neither the technique or discipline to adjust to a man who fights like he is 4 feet tall.

Marciano survives the early onslaught. Foreman gets progressively more winded after round 4. Marciano gets progressively stronger and begins to take over -particularly psychologically. Why? Because he just doesn't stop and every shot is hard. I see Marciano incidentally, concentrating on the body and the arms. As he begins to loop shots up at the head mid way through the bout, they land. Foreman limps to round 15 or fades and is stopped via TKO late.

That's how I see it. Foreman, disdainful and willful at 25, will seek to overwhelm the smaller man. He will not consider the possibility of a grueling 15 round test of wills & endurance. If Marciano is still standing in round 5, Foreman will begin diminishing as Marciano enhances.

The size difference is not as concerning to me because Marciano is very strong and hits very hard -consistently very hard.

By the way.... Marciano won't beat 1993 Foreman.

Agreed. This post takes the cake.

Foreman will find it harder to tag Marciano, this is true. I have the fight going five rounds myself (allowance for Rocky to possibly wobble Foreman). Regardless of what the Rock does, however, Foreman can always opt to push him back and reset. George has a great, great chin.

For all of you who keep bringing up Lyle, there is the slight, inconsequential fact that George was out of training and listless in that fight. Plus Ron was something of a monster but so what, right?

A shot Frazier is still more similar to Marciano than Lyle, so I really have no idea what you jokers are going on about. Cheers.
