It is like this: After Lennox Lewis retired, it was almost a decade before the top two heavyweights in the division fought! Marciano as champion fought the current #1 contender in all but one of his title fights. What we waited a decade for; took place every year when he was champion! No other lineal champion in history has matched that, except the ones who went around for no more than two fights. We can't ask much more of him here!
Galento was faster than Peter and he got squashed by Louis so i don't even know what you are getting at.
You don't know what im getting at? Shocking...lol Im getting at a 235 pound sloppy 5'9 Galento dropped Louis twice and if he could what would a better bigger guy do possibly who actually trains? Galento wouldn't even be a pro fighter today he would be doing toughman contests and get k.od by Butterbean who actually was fast.
Herbie was a HUGE puncher, but Klistchko and Bowe walked through him...and he was 30lbs. heavier than Marciano.
Trinidad was taller and matured to be bigger than Joppy. Aragon was a lighweight who got dropped by a Middleweight...thanks! Bolano was a nobody who lost his last 11 fights in a row. Graham has his first 26 fights at JMW, same as Jackson. Mario Gonzalez was a flyweight who moved up and got thrashed by a JFEWT...thanks again. Willie Bessamoff was a journeyman.. Lyle McDowell was a journeyman who finished 28-15. Joe Louis was washed up..and said so after the fight, and even then the fight was even at the time of the stoppage.
The Peter who was still fighting for glory (instead of money) lost to four men, Chambers, and Klistchko(x3). The Klistchkos would have RETIRED a 5-10 blown up light heavyweight, Although I think Rocky would have beaten Chambers...but I wouldn't bet on it.
Sam Peter is a snail compared to Galento If a guy like Galento plodded around like Peter while standing straight up without being his knees, it wouldn't look right. You would think boxing back then was a sham, or that people didn't know how to box. In all honesty if Peter v. James Toney 1 happened in 1930's they would boo them out of the ring.
This content is protected Scrub to any part of this video, and you will see two guys standing upright tip toeing in front of each other, trading lazy punches. You can tell Tony is technically sound, but he's truly slow here. Marciano would brutally KO both, especially Peter.
If Tony Galento ever fought for a title today ,boxing fans would be forced to stop watching boxing all together and go to UFC .And they would do so bc any dope would catch on fast and realise what their watching and thats a guy who was an overweight ,undersized circus act . And his career reflects that bc he fought over FIFTY guys who lost their prior bout some even a handful ,go tally up his opponents overall loses for a good one . Even your idol Dempsey called him a non skillful drunk but that explains why you think he actually is better than Peter bc you have trouble distinguishing good from bad skills . lol Yes this is the guy you claim would make boxing look legit compared to Peter.... This content is protected Do you see the TECHNICAL differences of speed balance power etc.. between ALL the fighters in your video and mine????? probably not, who am I kiddin here.
Sam Peter would never survive the grueling gauntlet that was Galentos career activity. Peter has 40 fights, Galento has 112. Peter has 36 wins, Galento has 80, 57 KO's. And Galentos packed all those fights into a shorter career than peters. He would fight 2-3 guys a month, often. Once he fought 3 guys in one night, KO'd two of them in 1 round. Peter was more orthodox, but Galento was more effective.
Yeah he's making fight of his match with Max Baer. He's actually trying to win, by charging in and throwing leather, and putting it on the line. He's effective in the clinches and lands some serious punches. Galento does not let Baer stand in front of him in range for long like Peter and Toney. They would never keep up with Galento or Bears pace. And that's Max Baer he's in the ring with. Not James Toney. Even when Galento is stunned he is still slipping punches, bobbing and weaving, using his instincts.
