I only know he could hit hard and was tall. That is enough against a slow plodding protected overhyped midget like Marciano.
My knee-jerk instinct is sod off with this because old guy power legend classic heart magic. But if I were forced to bet my house, there would be a lot of hesitation, if I'm 100% honest. Usyk is actually a very tough, gutsy guy, with significant size advantages over someone he's also going to be faster than. He's not Ezzard Charles in skills but with those advantages, plus at least having a diverse set of skills, it's not without intrigue. In H2H's like these, unlike taking, say two classical ortho boxers like Wlad and Holmes, which bear plenty of discussion fruit here, we have two guys who are soooooo peculiar in their respective styles and so different from each other, with so little in their histories that you could use for comparison of any meaningful kind, that I wouldn't really feel comfortable betting on a match like this. Not with something so valuable as, say, vCash. I just don't have enough.
Why though ? Spinks isn't a big Heavyweight and actually went down to Cruiserweight. The fact Spinks is a relatively small Heavyweight like Marciano and fights in a ultra aggressive way. I don't understand why you give Marciano such a low chance vs Spinks who isn't a great Heavyweight. Your reasoning and logic here don't make much sense to me TBH.
No other reason that I find Marciano so very bad. Take a closer look at RM's opponents. Old small worn out men. A fat middleweight. A shot old former lightheavyweight. I am so sorry, but I just wont lie about my point of view. People are scared to tell the truth about Rocky, it seems to me. I am sure many feel the same as I do, but they are afraid to voice unpopular opinions. Yes, Leon wasn't very good compared to other champs, but I find him better than Marciano.
Ì was just thinking about this. Usyk, while a modern sized fighter, isn't a puncher. It's very probable that Walcott hit harder than Usyk. Marciano swarming style would be hell for boxer types. I would pick Foreman to KO Marciano but on the other hand, I pick Marciano to batter Jimmy Young, even though Young beat Foreman. Far as Marciano vs Usyk, I don't know.
Young beat the ‘77 Foreman who was inferior in every aspect to his pre-Zaire counterpart. It’s definitely not a given he beats that version of Foreman. As a matter of fact, I think Foreman cuts the ring, corners him, and ends matters early.
Sorry, Marciano was so bad so I don't see him beat a ranked 200+ pound fighter after 1960.. Ain't Rocky beating a big skilled ranked heavyweight. He fought fighters who today would fight as supermiddle/lightheavy/very, very small, old cruiserweights. I have nothing against Rocky, but he really was so bad, so bad.
A guy sitting behind a keyboard who's probably never had a professional fight in his life. Has the audacity to call an undefeated Heavyweight champion "bad" is just damn right disrespectful but I think you're troll anyway so carry on.
Ok, Sir, there we go again. It is not accepted to critizise Marciano. Let's begin : 1) I don't understand why you become personal, as this is a boxing forum where everyone may voice their opinion, even the most unpopular opinions. You don't have to be an ex pro boxer to voice your take on things, it's called freedom of speech, I don't know if you have read about that, my good man. 2) You call me disrespectful, which is not fair. How can a simple statement be considered disrespectful if that's the way I see things?? I am not critizising Marciano as a person as I think that he was a good strong minded man with a lot of qualities, just not a very good boxer. You know, it is the same if I state that my son never would become a boxing champion, it's not disrespectful, it's simple logic. 3) I call Marciano the baddest and worst heavyweight champion ever because I have learned the level of his opponents. If we on this forum discuss former heavyweight champions we compare the absolute elite, we don't discuss how our kids did in sports in school, don't we? 4) Conclusion: It is a simple fact that Marciano NEVER confronted a 220 pound ranked contender. Yes, it was not his fault, but this is not what we are discussing, as it remains a fact. His foes, when he was champion, were old, small guys with more than approx. 100 fights behind them, old, very small, washed up men. The one young guy RM faced was LaStarza, who was a 185 pound heavyweight (?).
Rocky was blinded in the fight by a substance, and maintained until he died that it was intentional and he has source information that Blinky Palermo was ultimately behind it, as the odds has shifted the day of the fight.
Criticism is one thing being disrespectful is another. And if I quote all your posts in the last 2 months or so I think I'll find atleast 50 posts that are constantly hating on Marciano or being disrespectful towards him. Hence you either have some weird hate agenda against Marciano for some reason or you're trolling to get a rise out of people.
