How would prime Marciano perform against the 1980 Ali who was fighting with Parkinsons? Does he take as long as Holmes? Can Ali last the distance?
[ Holmes was not a phenom(enon), he was at least very good at everything and thus had limited weaknesses. Marciano was the definition of a phenomenon; he should not have done what he did, with the relatively limited skill set and physical tools he had. Ali of 80 verses prime Marciano would be painful to watch as Ali's boxing smarts and heart probably means he stays competitive and thus takes frightful punishment for 15 rounds.
Rocky was better at finishing than Holmes and for every jab Holmes threw Rock would have thrown a right hand, he would be relentless.
Exactly, no way Marciano could surpass a Holmes performance. It's just too uncomfortable to imagine and doesn't jive well with me.
That version of Ali would have gotten manhandled and stopped fairly early. He would have not been able to keep Rocky Marciano off of him. What did Larry Holmes say prior to his bout with Muhammad Ali on Oct 2 1980, Float Like An Elephant, Sting Like A Snail. A very sad ending for the Greatest. Also Ali's symptoms of Parkinson's was starting to become more evident at that point. It is like saying 2019 Deontay Wilder vs 2019 Iron Mike Tyson, who wins and why? Come on now.
Oh sure. Now past it iron chinned durable moving ring trickster Ali is comparable to the static corpse of Louis trading with Rocco on the inside. It simply must be equal. It has to. Or can it get dumber than this reznick production?
It's all sunshine and rainbows when we put final fight Louis up against dangerous fighters. But we put someone we know will do better than Holmes against a shot Ali, and the sky is falling. I'm not surprised. Are you surprised? I'm not surprised.
Actually, you just implied that 1980 Ali is better than final fight Louis, so if you're looking for dumber, just keep jogging your thoughts. I'm sure the boundlessness of stupidity will be to your satisfaction.
