    He wasn't prime, but he was still far more technical fighter than Rocky. He wasn't shot, he still won most of his fights against the best competition in the world.

    It doesn't change the fact that anyone who watched Charles vs Satterfield would say that he would dominate Rocky, as he was far more appealing fighter to watch. Yet he lost. That's my point, not wheter Charles was at his best or not.

    We can use Archie Moore instead and my point will be still legit.

    I didn't suggest he was shot . Everyone was more "technical," than Rocky apart from Vingo and Layne. Satterfield was a party animal with a less than stellar chin.Valdes deserved the shot before Charles. Whose success rate over his last 4 fights was 50% .

    Enh, I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the current boxers and young trainers gave Ward a great chance of outboxing Marciano over 12.

    A lot, I imagine. Ward himself called Kova a sharp, accurate puncher. Marciano was a home run swinger. With great natural leverage and snap. He was a bludgeoning puncher.

    Look, folks, we know he had rudimentary but effective skills. So, if he didn't have the A+ power for his weight, how exactly did he win all those fights?

    At the end of the day, Kova beat Ward. Please don't tell me that Marciano can't.

    Absolutely. But it was wickedly effective attrition. Guys simply couldn't evade it. Give me a modern elite superheavy who can bust him up from the outside and he has little chance. But a guy Ward's size who has a penchant for going dirty and likes to take up residence in Marciano's wheelhouse? Nope. Not going to happen.
