My mistake butterbean fought Holmes and no he’s not world class but I would t call Ruiz world class yet either
I wouldn’t put Ruiz up with the greats yet. It’s unfair to Ruiz as he’s still fighting. If he faces off against Wilder and gets rocked in round one would he still be world class? If Fury clowns him for 12 rounds is he still world class? They hyped up AJ and rushed to judgment. He’s an interesting fighter with potential I’ll leave it at that.
World class refers to the top fighters competing in a division. Top 3, top 10, whatever. Ruiz fits any definition of that. You're talking about all time rankings.
One revelation that last weekend brought about on this board is that most of the folks posting here have ZERO clue about the current boxing scene. I am not even a diehard follower of the current scene and have known about Ruiz for at least 6 years, probably longer. I know what trainers have been saying about him, watched his progress and seen promoters and trainers pursue him. It is quite obvious that many posters don't have a clue about the guy and think he was dragged off the street for this fight.
Yeah, it's surprising that he won. But I expected him to give Joshua a rough time considering that an aging Povetkin did last year. He's a similar fighter.
I decided to have a look at this forum and this absurdity was the first thread. The reality is that Ruiz would totally dominate and knock Marciano out early. It would be a complete mismatch. In terms of odds, I would go Ruiz 1.001 and Marciano 26.0.
Anyone who compares an untested fighter vs a proven, well tested, ATG reveals significant shortcomings. Ruiz book has yet to be written...or it may never be written. Only time and Ruiz successes will tell.
