They both have pretty good hand speed. Ruiz is more of a combination puncher, Rocky a slugger. I think Rocky had a slight edge on hand speed. https://streamable.com/yk3di https://streamable.com/mn03f https://streamable.com/1oman

But I think it was because he had the whole fight at his pace. He showed some good stuff in that fight, but while he wasn't totally out of shape, the pace was no where near enough to show a really good engine, let alone one even close to Rocky's.
Marciano in the SHW devision again? Just when will this disease stop?? Ehm, watched your Rocky fights mentally and visually geranged by the heavy mist of some unlit sugerian cigars, or are you trying to look like an fulltime idiot in a Marciano thread again?
So Ruiz is a super heavyweight now? Time was a 6ft 1, 270 pound heavyweight used to be classed as fat and out of shape, not a SHW. Keep moving those goal posts to justify how a 6ft 6 muscle bound genuine SHW got exposed by a short, cuddly, wobbly bottomed teddy bear like Andy Ruiz while the rest of us p1ss ourselves laughing at the modernistas new SHW classification. Tony Galento and Butterbean are officially no longer novelty acts but SHW trail blazers.
Whats Ruiz weight with that frame in shape? Wanna guess? What was Galentos weight and height again? 40 pounds less, but the same build? Whats both their weight via same bodyfat%? Youre that simple? Butterbean was a fine puncher, he just couldn´t go very long, thats why he mostly fought his short tound game. You think Rocky running straight into Esch is a good idea?
I don’t know what Ruiz’ in shape weight is seeing as Ruiz has never been in shape. Nice guy, good boxer, fat pig. Deal with it. He’s not a super heavy under any circumstances. 6ft 1, 74 in reach (in fact his waistline would measure longer than his reach) are a bog standard smallish heavyweights measurements. Only his lard puts him in SHW territory not any size or athletic capacity. Esch could only punch if you were a bum, paid off or Johnny Knoxville. Marciano could run straight into Butterbean and destroy him because he was an actual fighter who could actually fight and not a novelty act. The fact you can’t see that shows what a total boxing illiterate you are.
I don't think any reasonable person would argue that. I wouldn't call Marciano's gas tank "good" as I did Ruiz'. Its levels above.
Rocky would be backed up and pummeled. Ruiz punches with his opponent. He'd throw at the same time as Rocky, eat Rocky's punch with his feet planted, and do damage in return.
Marciano would batter Ruiz all over the ring, his shorter more compact punches hitting their mark first. Then critics give Rocky a hard time for beating up a fat man with no power and a loss on his record.
Fair enough. He looked pretty fresh at the end, and he kept doing enough throughout the fight. Probably more a difference in what we'd call good. It wasn't a liability anyway.
Ruiz didn’t really have to use much energy, since Joshua foolishly brought the fight to Ruiz instead using the ring and making Ruiz burn up energy trying to cut the ring off on him. Having seen Ruiz train many times in person In the past I’ve seen him do the 2lb dumbbell routine with Abel and Gassiev and Ruiz was able to keep his hands up and fire off hard combinations without quitting for 10 minutes while Gassiev couldn’t. I’m still shocked Joshua fought Ruiz head on like he did. Parker used the ring and kept circling Ruiz, so Ruiz had to use his legs a lot, which Ruiz hates doing, but trading in the pocket is something that comes natural to Ruiz especially if you come to him. Gavril used to blow both Ruiz and Arreola up in sparring, since he’d just use the ring on them and make their legs lock up and then he’d put in some work.
People actually think Ruiz would beat Rocky? Ruiz does absolutely nothing for entire rounds at a time. And when I say nothing, it doesn’t stop at the fact that he doesn’t throw punches. He won’t even bend his knees, move dynamically, or have any kind of activity going on. You watch a Rocky fight, and if he doesn’t throw a punch for 3 seconds you gotta keep your eyes open because you know a haymaker is coming. Rocky is one of the most constant, active fighters I have ever seen in boxing. If he’s not throwing, he’s working to the inside, using head movement, or being dynamically mobile to get into a better position to attack. He’s levels above Ruiz in creativity, output, pressure and gas tank.
