Who do you guys think wins this epic battle, if these 2 fought? As strong as the rock was, I can't see any in your face fighter or slugger beating a defensive master and excellent counterpuncher like Hopkins. So i'ma go out on a limb and pick B-Hop by UD.

I love Hopkins, but he doesn't stand a chance against Marciano. Rocky would pound away and knock him out in 8.

Well if Archie Moore, a lightheavyweight could outbox Marciano and Ezzard Charles could, I don't see why Hopkins couldn't. And Hopkins has never been Ko'ed so it's hard to evision that. If both fighter bring their A game, I think Hopkins overall is too ring savvy, smart, and very much faster to get the job done. Rocky would have trouble landing his hayemakers on Hopkins and Hopkins would do what he always does and that's take away his best assets.

Yeah, Moore and Charles, those bums.they sure whipped the rock.

Hopkins was gasping for air and stalling for time against ****ing Calzaghe at light heavy for gods sake.Regardless of who won that fight(and they both looked like ****)he was very strained after the early rounds.

He's not got it in him physically to do anythng other than take a horrible beating here.

I never said Moore and Charles was bums. But there's no way you can tell me Hopkins is unable to do what they did, if not better.

And Calzaghe may not be as strong as the rock but he's a much faster and HE COULDN'T EVEN TRAPPED HOPKINS or hit him solidly with punches and combinations which frustated the **** out of him.

I see you still on my dick since the Pavlik/Lamotta thread. If you got nothing constructive to say, than don't post. I could care less whether you agree with me or not on topics, your opinion doesn't matter to me.

No way, Hopkins is slick but not slick enough. He would never get Rocky's respect and Rocky would pound on him everywhere eventually wearing him down and stopping him.

What is the use of attempting to say anything constructive? It was established last time that even if you were completely gang-raped in an argument by multiple posters at one time you'd still come back for more. You're a hopeless case, therefore I'll just make fun of you.

Only God knows what would happen if Rocky ever hit a middleweight. Rocky doesnt need to wear Hopkins down, all he needs to do is land one hard punch. Hopkins will be out cold. Hopkins is a great great master boxer fighter, but at 160lb. Hopkins never faced a heavyweight, let alone of the top 10 All Time Greats. Rocky is a great Heavyweight and has the punch of a superheavyweight. This is unfair and I dont agree with the thread.

ps I doubt Rocky would ever be able to make 180lb. His brother told me it was hell for rocky to keep his weight under 190lb.

I haven't seen a lot of fights of Marciano, but I think Hopkins actually has a good chance of outboxing him in a 12 round fight. I don't think Marciano is fast enough to catch Hopkins clean or often enough, and Hopkins is very sneaky on the inside. I'm not saying B-Hop fights him on the inside, but I think he defends himself well enough most of the time and controls most of the fight on the outside.

It is mind boggling that people pick Hopkins to beat Marciano just because he beat a very good middleweight (Pavlik) and lost to an excellent supermiddleweight (Calzaghe&Taylor). I think many forget here just how hard Marciano hit, how much pressure he applied and how Hopkins will have to fake low blows like he did against Calzaghe, only not in the 11th but in the 4th, just to make it out of that round.

And that's nothing against Hopkins, but like others said, there's a difference between beating good middleweights, and fighting a GREAT, undefeated heavyweight who punches above his weight.

Totally. There was not a lot of fat on Rocky at all at the weight.

Basically, I would tend to pick Hopkins at this weight based upon weight-drain. But that may be a little dramatic.

At 190, Hopkins won't go three.

I'm not saying I give Hopkins a shot because he beat Pavlik. I give Hopkins a shot at winning because he was a big MW who filled up the LHW frame well enough and kept much of his strenghts as a fighter there too. He's hard to hit clean, he has good stamina (I'm not envisioning a 40 year plus Bernard like the one who fought Calzaghe), he fights well on the inside and doesn't really get hit there, and he's one of the smartest fighters I've seen fight. Rocky never weighed in as low as 180lbs except for a fight in which he was sick, he wasn't exactly a fast fighter, and although I know he could end the fight with one punch, I think Hopkins could edge him out in a 12 round fight at the catchweight.
