Marciano has the weight advantage by 8 to 10 pounds and height by 2 inches, maybe a bit more pop if his target sits in place. Saul has longer reach, far better speed and fundamentals and ring craft, just a level above as an athlete in all regards. 12 rounds. Who takes this?
Marciano by KO. Canelo ain’t hurting him or slowing him down. And you’re a clown if you think Canelo is a better athlete.
Clearly you cannot be taken seriously-You must seriously hate Rocky if you are putting him in the ring with Canelo the monster.
Like all hypothetical fights, no way of proving anything, but if it could happen I'd like to find someone who would bet on RM. Even better, if the person can only repeat 49-0, and doesn't know what they're looking at, they might even give me good odds since Canelo is smaller? IMO, Canelo has beaten better fighters than RM in Kovalev and Smith. *not sure RM would have any weight advantage either if Canelo didn't have to cut and make 175.
I’d expect Marciano to wear Canelo down and stop him. He’d eat some clean shots and get rocked several times in the process though. Would be a great, entertaining match while it lasted. Despite the huge skill, technical, and hand-speed gaps, Marciano’s just too big, powerful, and relentless.
On the surface, a preposterous matchup, but it isn't really. What is Canelo's heighest weight?* He looked thick and strong when he fought Kovalev. It's possible for Canelo, were he to fight a spoiling fight, to go the distance. A guy like Lowry did it twice, and I don't think he was much bigger than Canelo. But to try to win, well that's harder. Utterly beyond the realms of possibility? No, it's not. *A quick search says 174. 5 pounds. Not sure how accurate that is.
All this revisionism about Marciano being athletic gives me a chuckle. His stamina was excellent, sure. But other than that, what else? He was slow, crude, uncoordinated, and had terrible balance (often falling over after missing punches). Don't even get me started on his footwork.
Five star thread. Let's be real here...it's basically the Kovalev fight except without Kovalev's jab. How can that end well for Rock? It can't. That is where the story begins and that, my friends, is where the story ends.
