Rocky Marciano vs Canelo Alvarez

Well, I'm not one of those people who claim Marciano beats the best big heavyweights ever. I'm also not claiming Marciano wins because he's bigger; because the size advantage is pretty minimal. Marciano probably came in the ring about seven pounds heavier than Canelo. Marciano beats Canelo by being a bad style for him and a much, much better fighter. There's a lot more to boxing than skill.

Canelo's best attribute is his ring generalship and ability to make his opponents fight more conservatively. If Jersey Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore can't make Marciano fight like that, then Canelo can't either. Add in Canelo's issues with stamina and tendancy to only fight a minute a round, and you have someone who isn't beating Rocky Marciano.

 

I think Rocky puts too much pressure on Canelo and eventually either breaks him down with body shots or gets points decision.

 

Everyone is conveniently ignoring the fact that Deontay Wilder is closer in weight to a 30lb toddler, than he was against Nichols.

What are you talking about??? The premise your working with assumes the lighter fighter is better. Marciano isn't better than Bowe.

 

Fury is better than Wilder. Fury was 45lb heavier against his opponent for the only fight in his career he didn't get a W for.

The funny fact is Canelo at LHW weighed about as much as some of Marcianos opponents so if we had a time machine this hypothetically isn't that far fetched. But Marciano by violent KO

Totally agree. Although 6-5.5 height, 84 inch reach at 240 pounds Lennox Lewis would of been “GAME”. Ali loses 13round knockout. Lewis may have put up a fight but gets out pointed . Holmes 13th round knockout loss. Bowe stopped in about 7. Vlad and Vitali stopped. Foreman stopped. Lyle stopped. Bugner stopped. Witherspoon stopped. Tubbs stopped. Page stopped. Usyk stopped. Tyson shits his self and stopped. Douglas craps his pants and stopped. Michael Dokes knocked out by coke but the Rock gets credited. Toney runs back down to middle weight cause he ain’t facing the Rock. Roy Jones Jr stops boxing and moving and using his speed so he can get stopped/ knocked out. Holyfield prays to god he doesn’t hat to face the Rock.

 

Sorry I forgot mention Moorer, Gary Mason Fransceso Daminanio Tyrell Biggs Ray Mercer Carl Williams James Tillis Andrew Galota. All heavyweights at that time. Now there is talk of a super Cruiserweight division. But no the Rock goes through every fighter I’ve listed and a whole I haven’t.
