you have a good imagination...but then real life, you woke up from your dream and saw the slow moving, clumsy, low skill fighter that is RM and saw him fighting a guy who looked 75 years old in Archie Moore, and hopefully you realized that RM was not explosive or dynamic in any way. If not, you should read The Emperor's New Clothes.
Moore was on a 21 fight win streak before he fought Rocky. He beat another 11 guys on the trot afterwards before he ran into Patterson. I think he had plenty left in the tank at that point and I think he looks old to you because of the strategy he employed. I guess you could make the same argument about Ali in the Foreman fight ... he just stood around sucking up punches. Meanwhile, if Moore had beaten Marciano, people would be talking about his masterful strategy.
Or you can take the stats of a career and show them to you and you still don’t believe them lol. There is nothing that will cure someone’s Marciano bias.
no, there is nothing about Marciano - Moore that I thought was similar to Ali - Foreman. Ali was winning big against Foreman, not "sucking up punches." At least that's how I saw the fight, Ali was dominating and Foreman was weakening by the round. That Moore had a win streak coming into this fight and a win streak afterward and that Marciano was the undefeated champ tells me all I need to know about the talent level in boxing during that time period.
So now you’re into slandering the great Archie Moore? Odd bird. Should really study the sport more before you spout off like you actually know something about it.
He's slandering Moore, Walcott, LaStarza, Charles and Louis amongst others. I often argue for the more modern boxers but anybody that has watched these guys in action can tell that they'd be good in any era.
Canelo would dispatch Don Co ckell in shorter time than Marciano, and require far less fouling to accomplish the task. That's for damn sure.
By no means am I backing Canelo here and I’m not trying to directly compare Canelo to the great Bob Fitzsimmons, arguably a top 5 P4P fighter ever, but one thing to consider is that Canelo is considered one of the best, if not the best in the world pound for pound at this time. If Fitzsimmons could live and actually beat Corbett, I don’t think it’s that hard to imagine Canelo at least lasting until at least the 10th round against Rocky and even taking some rounds in the process. I would expect Rocky to wear him down eventually, but I’m not sure he has it all his own way. Just as a point of reference to how good I think Marciano is, I have him at 3 at heavyweight behind Louis & Ali, so it’s not like I’m one of his detractors.
Oh yeah I forgot, those compubox stats based off of all of Marciano's less than 10 filmed fights (the majority of whom against old fighters and/or fighters who weren't very good) that proved his defense was far away better than that of Tyson's and Frazier's (with only Frazier coming close I believe you said). LOL!
