Byrd is a borderline hall of famer. I don't even know who this Marcegiano is. Byrd by wide decision possibly KO.
I like Byrd, support him in many fantasy fight threads but this one ? Why would he win ? The size factor wouldn´t be an advantage since Byrd wasn´t big......I think Marciano would pressure and stop Byrd late.....
If Ibeabuchi could get to Byrd and crack him one I don't see how Marciano wouldn't. Just out of shear volume of shots getting thrown at Byrd would put the odds in Rocks favor.
Every few days Marciano, maybe greatest ever, at least one of top 5, is matched with another person he would beat, and who has little chance agianst him. Happens with Dempsey a lot, and Louis to lesser degree. Just a way for disgruntled fools to try and demean a great fighter, matching him with average guys and saying they would win.
For the obvious reasons ... he was small, he had a style based on strength and power, he did not fight any large men in their physical primes and his career highlights were against great names past their best days .. As far as Byrd goes, it is an excellent fight ... I can see Byrd , who fought much bigger, stronger guys in their own prime , easily outboxing him in the early rounds but over 15 you have to favor Rocky but I would not bet it ... he never fought anyone like that in their own prime with the legs to keep in up ... an interesting fight for sure ..
Ultimately, Byrd's lack of durability and Marciano's relentless pressure leads to Marciano winning late, but Byrd would have success in the early goings. I don't consider it a joke fight at all. Stylistically, Byrd does much better against sluggers than pure pressure fighters.
