Sorry this is pure bullsh*t. Byrd had ONE FIGHT at 175lbs ,he took off the weight far too quickly. And suffered a dislocated shoulder, he was also 38years old! So your premise is utter claptrap! Also Byrd proved elusive against fighters shorter than Marciano such as Tua and men that were not giants such as. Swindell Vedder Cooper Jackson Grant Butler In summary Byrd proved himself against giants , medium-sized heavyweights and smaller ones, he also proved himself against southpaws. Which slick boxing 200lbs plus southpaw did Marciano prove himself against? Byrd can't hurt Rocky ? He doesn't need to, what he needs to do is outbox him! Bryd had as much pop as Lastarza and a better chin he went the distance in one fight and 11 rds in another. Charles went 15rds with Rocky and he traded with him! Byrd goes the distance with Wladimir Klitschko, but he can't manage it with Marciano ? Yeah right ,good luck with convincing posters about that! I pick Rocky, but your arguments here are totally ridiculous, just like your Kitione Lave thread.
Moore looked awful against Richards, sloppy, all over the place. His legs didn't show true signs of age until 58-59 when he barely moved his feet Watch 47-55 his fights he moved his feet a lot, ton of upperbody movement he looked at his best here, watch him from Valdes in 53 he looks terrific. Probably at his best in 51 when he looked slightly faster than 55, but only slightly As for this thread, Chris Byrd beating Rocky Marciano. Lol seriously? A feather fisted defensively sound overstuffed cruiser weight who naturally weighed 190lb would beat an all time great top 10 heavyweight in his prime? Really mcvey? Really he grant?
Very good post.:good Nobody is saying Bryd was not a good contender. But Moore, Walcott and Charles were great fighters. It's not fair to compare. I dont buy this cr@p about one era being perceived to be greater than another era automatically results in contenders from one end beating the champions in the other. An awful lot of knowledge needs to be absorbed to back things up even part of the way and I am not seeing it here. This conclusion is never met by folks who have researched both eras equally. It's not good enough to pick the more recent era and decide the muscles are the deciding factor.
byrd gets stopped early by rocky. rock was way tougher than vits, byrds tricks wont work on him though they may wind him up something chronic until the turnaround.
Hell, my eyes must be going. I thought at first that said Rocky in a coma!! Now that's some come from behind win.:yep
