Rocky Marciano vs Evander Holyfield @ cruiserweight: Would this fight get boxing banned???

Rocky by stoppage rds 6-10. Imo Holyfield at cruiserweight was better suited for Marciano than the heavyweight version. Only drawback is he didn't have a lot of experience.

 

This. Rocky destroys Holyfield when he was at cruiserweight, since Holyfield was very green. Holyfield at heavyweight against Marciano would be a war, since neither guy is quitter.

Who did Marciano face that came anywhere near the specimen that a young Holyfield presented. Ox-strong, fast, fluid, fit as f*ck, young and skilled.

 

Holyfield makes Marciano look like a complete novice.Marciano could hang in there late rnds unless he gets cut.

If that's the tack you're going to take, be prepared to cite specific peer-reviewed papers upon which this training is supposedly based.

Steroids, I'll grant you, exist. Scientific training does not.


Or maybe your certitude is based on the short term trend of heavyweights in the 1950's becoming smaller than those before or since? If you can make a cogent argument along those lines, maybe you can convince me that there's been no global warming since 1998?

 

It would have been a war but I don't think (a) Cruiser Holy hits hard enough to really get the attention of Marciano and (b) I don't think he was experienced enough to hang with him either. I suspect Marciano grinds him down.

Holyfield would really need the extra 20lb he had at heavy.

 

A great brawl ,I give Marciano a slight edge due to Holyfield's lack of experience here,at heavyweight I'm always picking Evander to beat Rocky. Marciano by dec.

 

And yet Evanders own trainer who saw Rocky said that Marciano was better.

 

most fighters Rocky fought were better athletes/boxers than him, it was irrelevant in the end......

I don't think anyone beats Evander under 210lbs ever....But rocky gives him hell. I could see Holy landing beautiful combos and Rocky replying with a bone cruncher...too and fro...There is the question mark over The Real Deal with Peds too...Never ever has there been a fighter that would use absolutely anything to get the win imo...Great fighter Holy, but a first class cheat in every department Mcvey imo
