Like Don Turner with his training career.

Yeah you did, this is what you said, "on this occasion he is wrong."

I never used Steward's opinion to form mine .Since Steward worked with world champions from lightweight up to super heavyweight I 'll take his opinion over Turner's who is currently working with a green kid.

    Link to thread?

Did Manny see Rocky in person or just old pre-digital 2.0 fight films? I have a feeling Manny would think more highly of him had he had access to better footage.

You know whose opinion I value more than Mannys when it comes to boxing? Muhammad Ali's. Who said that Rocky was better than Frazier and would've been one of, if not his toughest fight. After some light sparring Ali wasn't even very sure he could beat Rocky in his prime.

I'd have Mannys opinion all day over Ali's..The next interview he was probably saying how Marciano wouldn't be able to lay a glove on him

I don't know whether Steward saw Rocky. I think it is next to impossible that Steward would not have at least seen all the footage of Marciano that is extant.
Did Turner see Marciano in person? He was 12 when Rocky won the title and 15 when he retired!
Ali said a lot of things ,he was usually gracious to other fighters ,particularly older champs I d say his remarks are motivated by politeness ,whereas Steward is speaking objectively and honestly.

I'd pick Marciano to beat Frazier but ,at heavyweight I'd go for Evander to beat both. Joe Louis said Marciano was ,"a street fighter,a brawler"and he was," in there for real."

I'd add something to the conversation but I am holding my breath until another short, slow, mesomorphic, wade-in powerpuncher with no reach dominates the division.... (gasp)...

He was being courteous.I've read where he has said ,"how is a little, slow man, with a short reach, who has no footwork, can't dance, ever going to beat me?"

I think Holy wins in a bloody war. I don't see Rocky winning against the man
who went toe to toe with Qawi and not only survived but won. Under 190, say at
180-185, Rocky wins as Holy was weaker at that weight. Yes the 5 pounds made a
    difference.

You routinely ignore or downplay quotes that are in tension with your preexisting beliefs, and you embrace those that support your views. It's a product of confirmation bias. It's completely natural. You wouldn't give a damn about anything Don Turner had to say about the subject if he'd made disparaging remarks about Marciano (and that would be your right). Let's not pretend that Don Turner quotes -- about a man he last saw fight 60+ years ago no less -- are solemn statements of unimpeachable erudite wisdom. Boxing lifers often romanticize the greats of their formative years and the past in general, and Don Turner is a character and ****-talker par excellence.

Holyfield by late stoppage. Had the strength, chin, and endurance to stand his own against Rocky. I see him using his superior skills and athleticism to exploit his handspeed, height, and reach advantages, landing combination after combination on his brave and tough, but outmatched foe.

I simply cannot see Evander rumbling 15 rounds with the Rock and coming out on top

Charles went 15 with him and he was past prime.I'd pick Holyfield to beat a prime Charles.
