This would be a GREAT fight, an explosive back and forth war!! The fact that Holyfield holds the size advantage to me doesn't mean much, he'd more than likely be banging with Rocky in close after "attempting" to box and being tagged and come bombing back.. This will be a grueling war but Holyfields a bit more polished a boxer and I'd bet he'd take it via a close decision..
Jim, just curious if you would pick anyone or anything over Rocky? Ali? Louis? Tyson? U.S.S. Nimitz, with a full complement of F14 tomcats?
Holyfield survived uppercuts from Lewis, Bowe and Tyson, 3 of the best uppercutters in heavyweight history (along with Foreman) Holyfield is a true bonafide G. I think Holyfield would be all round to good for Marciano. Rock has some early sucess but Holyfield takes it to another level and outboxes with Rock/slugs with him occasionally and does what he did to Tyson and stops Marciano late. I think Holyfields accuracy will be the key here.
battle of attrition fast paced and action packed Marciano by KO around the 8-10round...Marciano hit too hard
If you apply that one sided logic arbitrary among all fighters regardless of their qualities then Rocky wins every time right?
At the end of the fight Holyfield comments about how Marciano hit him harder than Lewis, Tyson, Foreman and Bowe ever did
This fight would go just like most of Rocky's fight. He'd be getting his ass kicked, but that power... IDK if he can stop Holyfield with one punch (doubt it) and Holyfield's power of recovery was certainly something he never faced (as far as I know anyway) Holyfield's obviously the favorite, and rightfully so...
Marciano decisions Holyfield in a war. Similar to the Charles fights. Evander and Charles fought alot alike at HW. Charles at 6'0" and 186-193 isn't that far removed from Holyfield in size either. Evander at his best was 6'1" 187-205. The bulked up 215-217 Evander doesn't have the stamina or workrate for Marciano. He would able to clinch him better but that's it.
I would expect Marciano to do better against the field at his size than Holyfield to do against the field at his size. So "doing boxing" I suppose...another way to say it although I don't like saying it is that if they were the same size...if you could "shrink Holyfield down" blah blah, or take the actually 186 ish lb version of Holyfield and make them fight, I'd pick Marciano. As things stand the added size and what goes with it would make Holyfield a favourite for me.
