    1. Actually Johansson is pretty underrated, aside from Patterson he was undefeated, dominating the best in Europe and destroying Machen in a round. He's also bigger than Rocky at 200lbs, I wouldn't be suprised if he hit as hard, that Machen KO is brutal, he isn't as good though no

    2. Your missing the key points: he came back twice after that to beat the Swede and showed enormous heart/chin in all 3 fights. He improved after the first loss, losses happen in boxing. Prime for prime Rocky beats Johansson in a war. But if a 22-23yo Marciano stepped up against Johannson he gets ko'd

    3. Just because 1 big puncher knocks a man out early doesn't mean another will - Liston-machen a case in point. Archie Moore was knocked out in the first himself, Cockel was stopped much faster than Rocky stopped him, as was Charles/Walcott 1

There is allot more to knocking a man out early than 'how hard a fighter hits' - such as speed/skill/starting fast/reach/range of punches. How many of Rocky's top opponents did he stop early, few, Liston was an early round bomber Rocky wasn't so much.

Liston could KO a man cold with either hand, Rocky more so with the right or on attrition. As a Rocky fan you should be familiar with his quote (words to the affect from my memory):

'a boxer shouldn't be able to land his lead right easily, if he can his opponent is usually not defensively skilled'

So given Rocky is scoring KOs from the right/attrition its unlikely he lands the perfect Suzie Q early or gets off , Rocky is unlikely to risk throwing too much

    4. Patterson like Ezzard Charles can get his shots off first, this is a stylistic problem for Rocky, he'd need to rely on timing and breaking his man down to the body to land his better punches, as he did against Charles/Walcott

    5. Being down doesn't equate to being hurt

    6. I'm not even picking Patterson in this fight, I just think he'll win the early rounds and hurt Rocky early

    7. I'd given Patterson good odds against Dempsey, Dempsey was a similar size and he never fought anyone in Patterson's class, Tunney aside. Patterson also has the power to hurt/KO Patterson if you look at Dempsey's 1st round ko loss and the Firpo KD and patterson has the better speed/skill. A Frazier fight is interesting much like a Marciano fight, Patterson has the skill/speed edge over Frazier and could maybe hurt him

I don't rate Patterson as low as some people I know, but, in this case, Rocky is going to be too much for Floyd to handle...in my opinion.

The huge difference between Ingo and Marciano was chin. Rocky had a great one and Ingo did not ...
