What if Marciano hadn't retired, and defended his title against Patterson? I think Marciano would win by KO.

patterson would expose this version of rocky and badly... patterson is stupidly underrated and he has the fame of having a flyweight chin... guys like bonavena could not stop im, bonavena dropped frazier twice. patterson could hurt rocky as well just like vice versa, don´t forget that marciano was dropped by a 40 years old archie moore in 1955? patterson was faster, stronger, he landed much better combinations, and h2h floyd did hit harder than moore(not pfp). i like patterson by clear ud, the speed would have been the difference, patterson would knock down rocky once or twice , he would out speed and out point a past prime rocky(who had problems with his back) easily. i think that even peak vs peak patterson would give rocky serious problems, rocky would look stupid and slow until that he would catch floyd with a clean suzie q.

It much depends how soon the bout takes place. In 1956-57,I'd favour the ageing, but still dangerous Marciano. After this,Patterson's youth enables him to outscore Rocky.

As others have said, much depends on when it happens.

If Marciano had not retired, then I think that Patterson would have bided his time for a couple of years.

Patterson wins an easy stoppage, either by cuts or KO. Marciano would have been too slow.

The first question to ask is when the fight would have taken place?

I don't personaly think that Patterson would have gone for it for at least another two years.

Of course once Marciano retired, the way was open for him.

Come on ... If Rocky fights Floyd after Moore there is little shot Floyd survives 15 ... a few years later a different story but not next ...

I don’t think that Rocky would have had Patterson as his 50th opponent for whatever that’s worth.

It seems that Willie Pastrano was being lined up.

Beautiful matchup: two small heavies with stupid power and different styles. Could the Rock get inside an do damage? Could Floyd's chin avoid being cracked? Could Floyd strike the very hittable Rock with his lightning? I'd kill to watch this fight in their primes.

Marciano and easily in his next fight... I mean really people think Floyd was going to survive for 15 rounds? LULZ. Not only would he not have Cus wouldn't even have let him fight Marciano and would've avoided it like the plague.

lSorry no Brutal KO here considering he was rising against Liston and was rising against Ingo who he avenged. Rocky Brutal KO against Floyd? Now that's laughable. Not saying Rock couldn't have beaten Floyd in late '56 but Brutal KO? Come on, get a boxing brain...
